I decided to try to take my SW1500 kit-bashes to the next level by adding see-thru grills and radiator details. Cutting into a nearly-completed model was tough, but not near as tough as when I will need to cut into my completed unit!

Radiator cores scratch-built from styrene...



Fan and shutters scratch-built from styrene. Couldn't find a commercial fan the quite correct size with 10 blades (the SW1500 fan is huge)...



Etched mesh in-place for photo but not yet glued...





Painted the fan white as the above color was too hard to see through the grill and shutters...



Comparison between units with and without modification....

Russ that is just incredible. Amazing how much better that SW looks.

DKS- very cool little layout! Love the way it turned out.

This car was painted a year ago and after several attempts at printing the required decals correctly, it is finally lettered.  This is power car P.G.E. 990281 converted from a former CP Minibox car.  My model was converted from the Briggs Models resin kit:




A big thank you to friends Greg Kennelly and Jeff Briggs who perserverd with getting the decals correct for me.

I was able to do some modeling this week and got decals on NS 99:



I also started work on Indiana Northeastern GP9 #1602:



I'm planning on building the entire INER roster but 1602 is a special unit to me because my brothers and I got a cab tour of it in 2012, I'm on the right.
