 John yes that is a nice thing about Digitrax signaling components it will make it easy to install the final signals. I have been looking at some of the new kits coming out and will choose one of them. I want to use the new style Darth Vader heads. Would like to know if you have figured out the yellow aspect signal logic?

Not sure what you are asking .. the signals  I've built will show all the aspects ..   you need to use 3V LEDs and 100 ohm resistors..

...and I couldn't resist putting it in place, if nothing else but to see the scenery and approach rework that will be needed!  The scenery in this area is 5+ years old now and will need attention to bring it up to current standards.

Thank you!  lacing all those the links is certainly time consuming but I am about 1/3rd done now.  Should have it all laced by next weekend.

I acquired the 44 tonner to serve the pump mill to explain how the chip hoppers into the chip unloading area "between sessions" so the Kraft switcher needed only to deliver and take away cuts of cars.  I think the prototype may have used a Trackmobile for this.  Since acquiring the 44T I have purchased a Shapeways version of a Trackmobile but it isn't painted yet.  Practically I use the 44T for slow speed testing of the trackwork all over the layout especially before op sessions.

Wow a lot of great work this week fellas!  Well after all the great feedback last week, I finally went ahead and bit the bullet and fixed the road leading to the mine.  I went with DKS's suggestion of moving the road over to the left to straighten the "S" curve out a bit.  I think it looks a whole lot better.  Thanks again for the advice David!

Not sure if I will keep the concrete color on the road or go with the dirt road look.  Suggestions?

Also need to know what you guys suggest for a bridge on the right side of the mountain.  Its about 2 inches from the base of the Kato ballasted track, or by my NZT scale, around 27 feet.

Completed 3 of Brian's vehicles (except for license plates).  These are really nice kits.  Left to right:  1950 Chevy, 1950 Nash, 1952 Buick.

This is a Twin Cities Zephyr dome obs.  The main body is a Kato corrugated release Budd coach.  I move the vestibule to the opposite end and then added the observation end from a CZ dome obs.  Because the CZ cars have a raised roof aft of the dome section, I had been held up for some time trying to figure out how to lower the roof to get it to match up on this car.  Well, I finally started slicing into the roof over the observation end today, and in the process of making the first two cuts it dawned on me that I could just slice it and bend the roof down a bit to match... without having to cut the whole top off.   A little styrene filler and we're there.






I've been filling window openings with epoxy, and carving back in the windows I need to add.  Two more small windows, and a quick styrene frame around the lower window, and I think this will be good to go.  And almost all window openings will fit Kato glass.

The revision looks much better. I'd definitely go with a dirt road--more in keeping with the wooden bridge and the setting.

One thing to think about is a stone arch bridge. There's nothing commercial I know of that will be a drop-in, but you can cobble one together using two Chooch tunnel portals and a strip of flexible stone between them underneath to form the arch.

Actually accomplished something train related this weekend.  Wife and I got the three mains laid on her NTrak module.  Now to lay the mountain line, but doing that tomorrow.

I worked on the artwork for my friend's CONX gas train.  Here is a sample of the artwork (not the final version).  This is for pre-2012 version (before GATX took it over).  These will be printed on ALPS printer and applied over repainted Athearn ethanol tank cars.  Most of the smallest lettering will not be legible when printed on ALPS.



I'm also looking for additional info about the end lettering. I started another thread about this in the Prototype section of the forum.
