Weekend Update 2/23/14

I salvaged a custom curved turnout today and transplanted it from an old layout to my current one.  Chris333 built this turnout several years ago and it's notable for its 10" and 8" radii that work flawlessly.

I got 2 of my 3 NTrak modules completed to the point where I can install them in a layout and run trains.

Third still needs track laid, but my wife says she wants to do it.  So that's tomorrow's plans, I think.  But really hope I can get her to do cork/track on the module.

Been working on signaling on the layout. Got all the mainline detection in and adding switch machines and signals. I am just using Digitrax signal heads for now and getting the system up and running and then I will decide on building signal masts. I am using Panel Pro to control the signals. Lots to learn but so far working great.

You are doing much the same that I am on signalling .. the nice thing about the signal masts, when you get your real signals, you can just clip the LEDs off, and use the base to wire your new signals to ...

While watching the Canada - Sweden Gold metal hockey game (Canada 1-0 right now..sweat, sweat, sweat... ) I finished my long delayed project to change my custom Wheels of Time NP baggage express car from truck mounted couplers to body mounted. I also took a flyer and lowered it a little and swapped in BLMA 36" metal wheel sets. Overall I'm pleased as it sits much better.

With the completion of the NP car I now have my "triple crown" of different "Hill Line" bagagge cars.. Only the NP is a slight 'foobie", as they had a four car series that were very similar to the one I made (doors were different so I numbered it one above to ensure no one said I cheated... )



Now I need to finaish the power for the "combined" train (CB&Q, NP, GN and SP&S) called the "Stampeder" (Seatle to Calgary for the Calgary Stampede)

Oh for an SDP 40 or SDP 45.... sigh

3-0 Canada. I don't know who to root for since both teams have 3 Blackhawk players. However my wife says it has to be Canada since Patrick Sharp is her favorite player  (My favorite player was knocked out of the running yesterday)

I have a bid in on eBay for a Bachmann Rio Grande Southern Big Hauler set for the backyard.  Scoped out a nice spot in the back for a decent sized garden loop.  Might run a spur along the fence also.

Thanks Jim  My photo skills limit me posting pictures many times. I seem to have a hard time getting the photo to look like what I see but I will continue to work on that. That is just another aspect to this hobby.

 John yes that is a nice thing about Digitrax signaling components it will make it easy to install the final signals. I have been looking at some of the new kits coming out and will choose one of them. I want to use the new style Darth Vader heads. Would like to know if you have figured out the yellow aspect signal logic?
