I spend a bit of "work" time trying to fix the damage inflicted upon our newly built N scale display modules by UPS.... they arrived in Springfield by UPS in near perfect shape but upon their arrival back in Toronto they looked like they'd been through a natural disaster... I mean a Micro Engineering bridge completely ripped from the abutments and track, torn into four pieces (and I mean the sides were broken in four pieces..... yesh)  :x

I did manage to fix up the station section and found this little guy crawling by....

Modelling on the home front was considerably slower but one Springfield purchase, an old Delaware Limited Rock Island Airslide hopper did get upgrades with body mounted couplers, BLMA drop ladders, a MT walkway and got weathered... I'll try and snap pic later....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

That is really too bad.  When we ship valuable things (like $50 000 instruments), we put g-force and tilt data loggers in packages.  They are good for insurance claims.  We've also included temperature and light measurements after we had a crate left open by customs on a dock in Seattle in the rain for two days  After a few claims dealt with, the minor investment has paid off tremendously.  Most packages get treated pretty well, but some can be shown to have been thrown around like beach balls- pretty impressive given the size of the packages.  I can set you up with info if you are interested.

Lovin' the A&R enginehouse, Dave.  I knew you'd cave in eventually under all the pressure.  Looks like a perfect fit!

I've been working on my latest 3D printing adventure, the NS SD60E cab. This one will be future NS 6920.

Reese, nice job on the cab!

It's been awhile since I posted in this thread.  Just too much going on to keep up sometimes, but today I have a few spare moments... yea!!!

So, with that here's what I managed to finish this week:

Some more stuff I've been working on this week and just finished up today. No I don't sleep...

First up is a Kato/Kaslo Shops SD40-2F or Red Barn as they are lovingly referred to as. Most of the details are included in the kit and it is very easy to assemble. I used True Line Trains CP Action Red for the paint and decals from Microscale.

FINALLY, it only took a year for me to get off my 4th point of contact and do this hopper.  Still want to add the road number, so need to work on that in the next few days.  I'm going to knock out the ex-Chessie Hopper next.

Finally, a few Willmodels resin vehicles that I painted.

Cheers,
Brian

Nice job Brian!  Good to see another ICH car finished.  BTW, I still haven't even started working on  my car!

Too bad we all didn't discuss the option of having the car number printed on the decal, before I printed them for bunch of people.  That would have made things easier.

Thanks!  You know what the really sad part is.  It only took me about three hours to do the entire car, including rusting the FVM wheels and trucks.  Wait 365 days and that's all it took....

I have one more set of the decals, so the next one will have some better black stripes.  Lesson learned...

...and I still have projects that are older than this one was sitting around the bench...  :o

LOL! So do I. I think that the oldest project which I have already started , and it is still sitting within easy reach (no digging through stuff to get to it) was started in early 90s!

Okay, you win...  :D

Mine only goes back to 2006.... but probably wins the mileage award.  Moved it from Japan to Kansas to Saudi and finally to Germany.  Will probably move one more time before it's done...   :scared:

With a lot of help from John Colombo, I am about halfway through a Loksound install in my NS #9256 Dash 9. I have milled the frame, built my enclosure and installed a Fox speaker, wired up most of the decoder and took her for a test spin. She works well and sounds awesome! I just need some time to wire up the LED's and tuck away some of the wiring and I will post some pictures and a video...

Today is a big day.  I actually finished something.  That doesn't happen often for me.  I started this loco about 4 years ago or whenever Intermountain released them.  When it was released I knew I wanted to model CN's Expo '86 SD40-2w.  At the time I was planning to experiment with casting 0402 LEDs into ditch light castings.  I tried it on this loco and it proved very successful.  After I got it painted and the lights working I set it aside.  Now I've seen that Intermountain has anounced a rerelease of the SD40-2W, this time WITH the Expo scheme.  So I figured I had better finish it.  Today I painted the plow, added all of the final details and reassembled it.

Having successfully lighted such tiny castings, it opens doors top infinite possiblities on other projects.  I love tiny LEDs.

HMMM.  Seeing photos shows me it would look 1000 times better with new handrails.  Maybe it's not done.

Outstanding model!  This is on the list of my all time favorite CP locos and I plan to build one at some point.

howd you get the grey/brown lines on the ICH hopper?  I have been trying to wrap my head around that one for awhile...
