I know folks have been asking  for these cars for a long time. Congrats to Rapido for making them.  Now it will be interesting to see if the same folks actually vote with their wallet.   I hope so for Rapido's sake !

so I can justify the NH cars into New York (easy via the Pennsy I am sure)

just curious, how can i justify any of them into Cleveland or Chicgo prototypically? (doubtful most likely, but maybe a wandering boy scout troop going to philmont in the summer :) ) could be good enough for me.

Or how about a bunch of Boston fans headed to an Indians or a Cubs baseball game. Yeah, that's the ticket!

I know I've seen a picture of OB cars in both NH and B&M at Valley Forge PA for a Boy Scout National Jamboree in the 50's.... of course for those events they may have broken out wooden framed flat cars to haul the throngs.... ! :D

I know that New Haven cars showed up on the B&M's Conn River line, but because some of those trains were Washington-Montreal would PRR cars be appropriate as well?

I can speak in the affirmative regarding one consist — the Washington/Montréaler, which was run jointly by PRR/NH/B&M/CV/CN.  Regarding any other B&M Washington-bound trains — that I do not know.  I know the PRR/NH co-mingling because I model NH, and there were at least eight "name" trains that were Washington-Boston or Washington-Montréal.  I also know that B&M cars regularly showed up in some of those consists.  But I don't know if PRR cars showed up on B&M-powered trains other than the Washington/Montréaler.

Years ago I saw a photo of one of these on the rear of a mail/express train on the PRR middle division.  Guess it was a rider car and no PRR coaches or high speed equipped cabin cars were available.  So add one to your trains headed to Cleveland.

The NH intercity 10-window PBLWs (which is what the Rapido model is) traveled daily to Manhattan, both Penn Station and GCT, so that's an easy justification.  Occasionally, they traveled further south on Philly and Washington trains.  But it would be a rarity that they would travel on any PRR rails other than NY-Phila and NY-Wash.  Not to say it didn't happen, but it would be the exception rather than the rule.

Also — I realize that Rapido is advertising the model as the "Osgood Bradley Lightweight" coach.  But the prototype was known as the "Pullman-Bradley Light Weight" coach.  Osgood Bradley was acquired by Pullman-Standard as a subsidiary prior to the prototype's debut in 1934 and renamed Pullman-Bradley.  The cars were designated as "Light Weight" (two words) rather than the "Lightweight" moniker applied to subsequent post-heavyweight designs of the 1940s and 1950s.

Did any of these make it into PC and, if so, were any painted into PC colors?

I'm actually looking at the seat design right now.... you spyin on me ?

..and we did the PC version in HO.... maybe we'll look at it for a second run if we do well enough on the initial offering.....

Not only did they see PC green paint but 15 were still listed in use in 1976 on Penn Central commuter trains!!!  Also 25 ex-B&M coaches still being on the Long Island in 1976 (the year they were retired) as well... six of the LIRR cars were rebuilt to bar cars.

Well I should be happy as a clam at high tide that the LIRR had them and Rapido is making them , but the cost is a killer . So as soon as Feather River puts the things up for reserve I will die paying for the entire LIRR set . It would be appreciated if there was an entire 10 car set discount .

Just thought of another use.... How about a rider car on a mail train?
Seems to make sense.
