My cars arrived today.

I didn't realize they were kits! What the hell? 




Actually, I'm really excited to get started turning them into some real pigs. Should be a lot of fun.

More importantly, there was a desk, safe and bathroom in all "messenger" cars and all carried a star... even into the Amtrak era...

Well... waiting for payday I missed out on both the BM70k and the B60b but at least I got some of the decals ordered!

Hopefully truck will be available again one day and there will be more runs of both cars.

MY 2 BM70ks arrived at my mates place in Indiana so now it is wait until all the other bits come in.

I am looking forward to doing the kits and getting them up for display.

Jerry, it seems my attempt at humor didn't play well. My folks grew up with an outhouse, and I used it plenty when staying at my grandparents, so I understand what you're saying. My point was that I didn't think there were "bathrooms" in messenger baggage cars. A least the Santa Fe cars I'm familiar with, there was a star on the outside and a toilet mostly out in the open on the inside, not something I'd call a "bathroom". Male "messengers" didn't need or rate a lot of privacy in those days, and besides, they had the car mostly to themselves....

No decals available for the LIRR road #'s. (700 series, 7700 after rebuild) Got the roadname and Dan decals on, but not the # in white background.
 Guess I'll see if my decal paper is still good to make my own.

Made my own decals with proper road # for LIRR. Printed on Epson R2400, white decal paper.

I tried many times to straighten underframe, with hot water, then letting cool, with wedge under middle and weight on both ends. Always goes back to that upward bow. Just e-mailed HGM, to ask for new underframe. Heard here they're god about that.

Well never heard from HGM, so went ahead. My first weathering attempt with an airbrush. Have to re-do Elmer's Glue porthole windows.

Has anyone come upon a set of metal wheels that fir these trucks? Mind you, the trucks are very "flexible" and have a tendency to twist from one side to the other.
