Shall I assume zero actual news from FVM regarding H30 schemes and schedules?

I have the brass H30 on order with Bob but still; that was an extremely exciting announcement for me that appears to have been a drive-by teasing absent SOME kind of news.

Are there updated ads in the N scale press for this model that I've missed?

So back to the teaser.. our conversation with the Bachmann Rep went something like this..
My wife wanted to know if they ever planned to re-release the Trim a Tree set..
Rep:  We never made that, someone else did.
Me:  Yes you did several years ago.. in N scale..
Rep: No we didn't... someone did that a year or so ago but it wasn't us.....
   Oooookay...

He could be right ,just because my set has a Bachmann 4-4-0 and 3 oldtime Bachmann passenger cars,and Bachmann Easy Track.and a Bachmann power pack I suppose it could been made by LifeLike.

Since the Bachmann S-4, we have another "spotting feature" that needs to be mentioned for all new loco releases: whether the brake shoes line up with the wheel treads or just float off the outside of the truck. I think this is a legitimate point.
It's things like this that make me favor published reviews. Posters' random comments or notes about  their personally-preferred features of the model (whether included or not) are not the same thing.

The published reviews I read in magazines (I assume that is what you mean by published) don't go into that level of detail.  But OTOH, when I read online reviews, posted my certain modelers, they do go into that level of detail.  The random comments you've mentioned, to me do not constitute a model review. Those are ... just random comments.

I spoke wih Matt at FVM about the H30's.  He said these should be out in Q1 2014.  I mentioned this could be offered in multiple schemes.  I was surprised he did not have a pre-production model to show if this will be out in Q1. 

I also spoke with Matt about the NS Heritage locos and how he did the color matching.  He said he had a source at NS for color samples.  He showed me a boxed set of the NS GE Heritage locos and the colors looked good to me.  I told him that I was not impressed with the Kato rendition of the CNJ orange.  It looked too dark and red to me.
