Love the smell of freshly cut wood and cork roadbed.

I started the first Woodbury module and am experimenting with the module height.
Here are the first construction photos with target prototype locations (i.e. looking at Woodbury from the north and south):

I'm driving down to my sister-in-law's house this weekend and Monday, so not much modeling for me. I will try to visit a hobby shop or two while down there. I need a bunch of A-Line lead weights for 29 Intermountain box car kits.

Hmm... with Kiz gone, I'll
get to sleep late...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

My NCE starter set came in along with the decoders and I installed the decoders with no problems. Everything is running great I even did a consist yippee. I built another Pikestuff building, this time I built a trucking terminal to go along with the other buildings in my distribution facility.

Nothing for me this weekend. We're packing up for our bi-annual trip out to Minnesota. This time we're spending a few days in Wisconsin Dells. I've been instructed by my dad to go the Dells' old station and take a picture of my daughter to recreate one he took of me when I was 2 or 3 there,

Biggest N scale-related achievement this week was getting the new electric service entrance hardware installed on the layout building. Electrician only charged me $250 for the work... the parts, however - YIKES!!!  :o

More in the "Layout Engineering" thread.

Not directly related to modeling, but will become indirectly related: completed a DIY flatbed inkjet printer. Commercially these things start at around ten grand and I built mine for about $150, complete with a brand new high-res print head with independent CMYK ink cartridges.

The purpose of this beastie is to be able to print images directly onto 3-D objects, such as freight cars, buildings, or other objects that would otherwise jam the paper tray. Largest object capacity: 3 x 8 x 10 inches.

One of the first things I want to try is covering a large building wall with acres of ghost signs derived photographically.

I'd also like to experiment with some weathering techniques...

And no, it will not print white. (That would have brought the cost up to the point where I may as well have just gotten a commercial flatbed.)

What I did many years ago was buy a box of strips of 1/4 oz. self adhesive weights from a guy that supplies them to tire & wheel shops.
There must be 1,000 weights total.  They weren't very much $ and I still have a ton left after many projects and years.

I need a bunch of A-Line lead weights for 29 Intermountain box car kits.

Dupont now offer a white InkJet ink.

Google Dupont White Ink.

Was the printer a kit or did you source all the bits separately?

From my research, the ink works only in certain (costly) printers, and is intended primarily for imaging on fabrics.

This was not a kit; I started with the guts of a new HP-6100 and incorporated into a homebuilt carriage system.

Nothing unique or special; many people have done the same, and for the same reasons.

This is a post card I purchased as reference material for Baltimore and Ohio in Illinois.
Seems to be about 1908.
I have not found any for my homevillage depot or other depots on the B&O from Beardstown to Flora, IL.
or Flora to Shawneetown, IL. Want to know what the typical outlying railroad buildings were.
My memories of the home village depot date from the early 1940's; it always appeared that a passing track and other out buildings had been on the site at some earlier time.

Finally got a chance to paint one of my phase III RS3 shells. I left the handrails off for better photos of the shell. It's a direct shell swap and seems to fit rather well with the stock Atlas parts. I carved off the stock number boards as I will also be adding the typical Milwaukee angled number boards Might have to try doing wire handrails on the next one!
