Well, things are calming down for me now, got some rearanging done around the layout.
Havn't had time to work on it for a couple months.
Did start Kitbashing some Atlas double door boxcars to to AA/MI 6000 series box cars.
Does anyone know of a way to lower or replace brakewheels on the ends of freight cars?
I might just leave them high, and not worry about it.

Welcome to The Railwire Fred. I recognize your name from the Atlas Forum.

As for your question about lowering the brakewheels, the obvious solution (obviously) is to cut/file off the brake hardware and ladder. This is a pain if you are doing a bunch of them.  Another idea is to see if any of the Intermountain boxcar ends match your prototype. If I recall correctly they come without the end details attached, so it is a simple matter of filling the holes and swapping them out for the Atlas ends.  Just a thought.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Not a model shot but I thought folks might enjoy seeing a photo of an historic event that occurred in Golden, Colorado this weekend

Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose #1, #2, #4, #5, #6, and #7 together!
If Knot's Berry Farm had not pulling out at the last minute #3 would have been there too

It was a great weekend there and I got a Cab Ride in most of them as well as tons of video during this three day event.  8)

Love the Geese!  Been to the Colorado RR Museum a few times.  I'm a closet Colorado Narrow Gauge junkie and once modeled the RGS in HOn3!

As always! Excellent modeling by all. Jim your pictures are great. I got some more facia and backdrops hung, but nothing worthy of pictures.

Thanks Dave,
Just couldn't quit cold turkey, so I eventually found my way here.
I'd thought about the IMRC details, and just cleaning up the ends and mounting them lower.
Then again, only 3 or 4 people who would see them would know the difference, so....

Mike -
Where did you get the two hole cable stanchions for the bridge in the photo?

Bryan -

All the parts for the deck of this are coming from (several) Central Valley Walkway & Railing Kits (#1811) which is made to be added to their Pratt Truss Bridge kits. Each comes with the a 150' tie strip, 2 150' girders, 18 sets of stanchions (for both sides), string for cable and the "planked" walkways.

I've modified the pieces somewhat by adding the ties that are not present in the strip (5 per length) and only using one side of the stanchions. I also had to fill the voids in the planking that are left to clear the Central Valley kit uprights.
