It actually works!  ;)

I ordered my 120v ion gen a while back and it's been sitting in a box ready to be hooked up.  Well, today I got out some leftover materials in the shop and built the thing.

The  <insert.favorite.fruit.here>inator is officially born  :tommann:  I guess now I'll have to try 'er out, eh?

Tim, I think Dr. Duffenschmirtz would refer to that as a "grassinatorinator."

(Those with young kids and cable TV will know what I mean.)

Ah, Perry the Platypus.  You are no match for my latest evil invention: the Grassinator!  With it, I plan to lay down a carpet of evil static fibers over the entire Tri-state area... and the world.

I tried the *innator last night.   wow, it really has more balls than the fly swatter version..  I can almost feel the tumors growing in my head when I turn it on.

for reference, here's my attempt with the FS, using WS grass:

for one, I thought it was too toy-like.. plastic looking and glossy.

I went to the LHS and picked up some Noch grass.they didn't have the colors I'd wanted but I grabbed a couple anyway, just to test.

here are few shots after using the big-boy, using a mix of WS and noch together.

I like the texture much better.. but not the color.  Doesn't help that I'm color blind probably, but it looks too bright and toylike in my opinion.

what colors do you guys use?  I'm looking for natural prairie grass colors, and various greens..

I'll have to dig up Jamie's review and check out the details.. practice practice..

I dunno, the colors on that last picture look pretty good to me.  Perhaps a little more "Spring"-y than you may be going for, but that's certainly a realistic hue for midwest prairie grass when it's nice and hydrated.  It's just a tad bit too knotted up, not standing up straight and distinct enough.
