Mike .. some advice .. move the cars from your layout around the construction area .. i've broken a few by being careless when I deconstruct / reconstruct :)

Thanks , I have not broken any yet but have made a dusty mess of the layout.
When I am done I will have to strip the layout of loose items and mini-vac the whole thing.

The cost is worth the ease for sure!
They now have 18 and 19 inch super el track and that would have been my choice if I had had room.

Well guys , a lot of progress has be made on the Albuquerque Carnuel and Tijeras Railroad. I have now completed the installation of the helix and lower staging yard and all seems to run well so far. The maximum train length on the ACT is and has been about 12 cars plus 2 to 4 locomotives (as dictated by the upper level sidings). We will now have a rule similar to ATSF that will dictate a minimum of 2 locomotives per train for power to incline and decline purposes in the district.
Here is video # 33 and we hope you will take a look.

Mike .. I love your videos .. on the surface, its a well executed railroad, but I like that you aren't afraid to show the warts and give us a peek behind the curtain either ..

Looking great, Mike.  I know you said you weren't comfortable with three trains in the helix simultaneously on your video, but it looks like the new trackwork is operating very smoothly and reliably.

In the portion where you were discussing reconnecting the industry that was cut off with the installation of the helix, do you have to cut in a new turnout?  Just a few more feet down the line is a double crossover.

Oh, and if it were me, I might consider something deeper than a 4" fascia over the multi-level portion of your layout.  Since you built out the joists to be plumb with the edge of the shelf on the lower level, I would be tempted to install a full height fascia with large cutouts for access to the lower level.  When I say large cutouts, I wouldn't hesitate to cut most of the fascia away as huge windows for access you have now, but it would really dress up the layout.

Thanks John , I get lots of questions in this hobby and pictures are worth a thousand words (they say) so I try to show and tell all I can.
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for your service as well!

Thanks Dave , I need to come off of the main to the left of that double Xing as I would have no radius room if I came off at the right of it.
The open but connecting fascia was a thought as well. I have many ideas there. One idea that I used on an earlier ACT was drop down doors cut from the same Masonite fascia. Another idea was a sliding set of tinted plexiglass panels on each side. I will think of something.
Thanks so much and Merry Christmas Dave , Mike

Hello all and Happy New Year. I am moving along on the stage II of the ACTRR. I did a new video that explains the plan beyond the staging yard efforts.
I hope you all take a look and enjoy.
