Those Cylindrical hoppers - are they really Canadian?  The only roads I thought that owned that particular car were ATSF and CSXT?  What is the scoop on them?

I saw an oxide red CN hopper like that just a week ago. There was a photo of a work in progress of a HO kitbash from a Canadian modelers group in last month's RMC.

CN's like in the linked photo are noted as ex HLMX (Helm), built by NSC in 1979, 4650 cuft, aquired by CN in 1987... they fit my era.

A few years back there were photos of Bachmann On30 stuff showing up in shops overseas before they even had any photos to show on their own site. Like they can't tell you anything till it shows up in their office?

Except for the tender UP's 1242 and 1243 is almost a dead ringer . They didn't drop the fires on these sliders till 1955 . They still have one of them on a flat car touring events , the other is in a park IIRC . I have an HO brass on I bought on my dresser , mainly because I thought I would never see it in N . Bachmann did real good by me .

The information isn't supposed to be public yet, so they probably haven't scheduled their page to be updated until tomorrow when it's supposed to be released.  FWIW, the far more technology-oriented BLMA hasn't updated their webpage either for, presumably, the exact same reasons.

The trainboard brought up a good point . Bachmann in HO did a 52 and a 63 inch driver 4-6-0 . The smaller one looks more like the UP . I bet they go with the bigger one though . Crap , so close !

Well, someday I'll get to do the announcements first...
It's not news that the changes in production since the SDK purchase have resulted in schedule changes.  They've pushed a couple of projects near and dear to our On30 hearts past this year's cutoff, so we will announce them when they're ready. However, the new technology in the Porters will allow subsequent locos to be even better, and I'm very glad to see the Porters back with DCC and sound.
So, don't despair! Remember that Mr. Riley and I want want you want...

Bachmann doesn't even have a what's new or release component to their website. Somebody's cousin must head up marketing.

They're National Steel Car prototypes (so Canadian-built), a slight variation of the classic cylindrical grain car with the additions at the tops of the ends for more
cubic capacity.
They were originally built for at least DMLX, NAHX, ATSF, TRC, CPI and have scattered around in secondary ownership. (DME ex-ATSF; CN ex-HLMX, ex-?; WC ex-NAHX/CPI; seen a few other random reporting marks that were definately originally CPI cars.)

Unfortunately the Bachmann HO model is an older, crude tooling, I'm not sure what to expect for N. They also tended to paint it in all the common government grain car schemes which are inappropriate for this car design (and botch them anyway). Still, it's marginally less objectionable than seeing ACF centreflows painted in those schemes which should only be on the 4-bay true cylindricals.

Not yet, just MTLs...

Bachmann has its own auto coupler announced earlier this year and included on the H4's and the second run of the little switcher.  It will be included [according to Bachmann] on all new releases and available separately in October.   The couple looks and functions like the McHenry.  Photo is available on one of the threads in the "Ask the Bachmann" section of Bachmann's website. 

With this and now Concor's coupler 2010 maybe the year that we can finally say, "Rapido, Rest In Peace."
