Or I could build it the way the WM built them... wide enough for the second span that never came, and with a walkway and railing along the length of one side...  But yes, there will be some calcification, rust stains and other goodies added as the scene progresses.

I thought the extra width was just to make them less stilty on the layout . Oh well .

Poked another industry track into Thomas.  Kingsford Charcoal was actually down the hill a bit at Parsons, but it generated 60' cushion cars full of back yard fuel.  I've got a bunch of them, so in it goes.  The good news is the 60 footers negotiate the 12" r. helix just fine, body mounts and all...

Also finished all the switch mechanisms in Thomas.  Just need to wire a switch to the Tortoise at the west end, and it's ready for scenery!

Thomas, thus far.  The new siding is up at the top left in front of the skyboard.  I mocked up some buildings in Paint...



A more direct view.  The cars are 60'

While I was up...  Here's an overhead of the new high bridge


And I put in the lighting for the new part of the staging yard.


Soon I'll be ready to build the deck that will hold Cumberland...

As for dimensions,
From the fascia at Shaw Truck Dump to the outer edge of the peninsula is 66"
From the fascia at Cumberland to the outer edge of the peninsula is 54"
From the outer edge of the peninsula to the end of the skyboard is 21"
From the front wall (by the helix) to the back of the skyboard is 86.25"
From the front wall by the window to the front of the skyboard is 86" +/-
(The skyboard is almost parallel to the front wall...the west tunnel portal at MD Jct. is about 3" in front of the skyboard)
From the outer edge of the peninsula to the apex of the Thomas Sub is 4.5"
From the outer edge of the peninsula to the apex of the CNL sub is 6.75"

Did they plan their tunnels to be double track as well?

Some.  Brush Tunnel was built as a double track hole, it's still used by the WM Scenic, and is shared with the rail trail.  The Cumberland extension tunnels were all single.
