Lee, I don't know, this looks very "model railroadish" to me. I know that doesn't bother you the way it bothers me, but I did want to mention it.

Perhaps it'll look better if the lower track is more buried in trees and vegetation.

It doesn't bother me at all, because it is a model railroad.  The two tracks are separate lines, a train running on one will not be appearing on the other without some mad switching in the yard.  The area I'm modeling does in fact have two rail lines sharing the same valley, and there instances where one crosses the other.  I'm perfectly content to advance that illusion.

Plus, I was going to make trees every day, but we all know how that turned out... ;D

Lee, I like the look of the piers and how you made them, but I think if they where single tracked (narrower) and a little bit thinner the whole scene would look better. Even make them a little undersized so it looks more spindly.

The only really high bridges on the WM were built to one day hold double track spans...  I think the chunkier look helps divert the attention from the height.

Last night I installed the curved turnout, which required a bit of fine tuning, thanks to the seller who simply stuffed it in a padded envelope, and let the USPS have its way with it.  One of the points was loose, and there was a slight bend in one of the stock rails, but nothing I couldn't fix.  After that, installed and programmed the Switchit to run the Shaw siding, and it works beautifully.  I wept tears of joy.  DCC turnout control is indeed intoxicating, and highly addictive. 

Lastly, I hooked up the Tortoises at Kerens to the local switches at Elkins, so the two main sidings on the Thomas Sub are now fully active.  I've got to wire the last three turnouts at the west end of Thomas, which will make the Thomas Sub fully functional all the way from Maryland Jct. to Elkins.  I expect that by night fall, I can run the West Local down the hill with some cars for the paper mill.

Then I've got to take a break from the layout for a bit to work on this pile of locomotives I have to do installations on...  (Henry sent me a bunch of really sweet WM stuff ... RS-3's and GP9's that will look really good working the hill!)

Just looked it up...  The high bridge at Ohiopyle was 130' tall, and over 600' long.  So I'm good with a little selective compression...

Lee I noticed that the span sits to one side of the piers . You could make the bridge look new , add span plates to the top of the piers as if a second track will be installed soon , or make it look like the second span was removed by having rusted span plates on the pier tops . You could make escapes at the piers , with ladders down to the pier tops , maybe even ladders down the piers as well .

Or I could build it the way the WM built them... wide enough for the second span that never came, and with a walkway and railing along the length of one side...  But yes, there will be some calcification, rust stains and other goodies added as the scene progresses.

I really like the lettering on the bridge at the beginning of this video.  Where is the bridge at the end located.  Notice it's like Lee said single track but built for 2.

Looks like the approach to Knobley Tunnel from the east.  The lettering on the bridge at the beginning, I believe was on the Keystone Viaduct, judging by the gentle curve there.
