This is an advance announcement for TheRailwire community.  Eastern Seaboard Models is proud to announce the Sovereign Modeler Series™.  This product line will feature hand-crafted products by some of the most accomplished modelers in the hobby today.  These exquisitely crafted premium items will be available online through ESM only and in very limited quantities.

The first release features the tremendous talents of Tom Mann - a weathered and distressed Pennsylvania G26 mill gondola.  See some photos below of the models, which will be available for sale on Monday, December 7.  More photos of the models are available online.  Look for the advertisement in the Jan/Feb issue of N Scale Railroading, and for more releases in the Sovereign Modeler Series™ throughout 2010.

What do you think it would take to get a run of Laurel Valley cars done?   ;)

Well...  I was thinking about how I was going to weather my G26 in PRR CK.  And the answer is, "not nearly as well as that!"

I'm sure this car is not in the $6-10 range even without the weathering.  But that ridge of plastic posing as a grab shouts $10.00 to me.

You are correct in that aspect.  This entire product line will probably not be of interest to you, especially considering that I cannot even bring to mind any current N scale rolling stock that lists for under $10.

Well, let me help http://www.atlastrainman.com/NFreight/tmnps2.htm. And mind you, that's MSRP, not actual street price. It's amazing how N scale is looking more and more like HO everyday. I'm not talking about the models, but it is developing an 'old boys network' finally, intent on gatekeeper status by insinuating superior knowledge often cloaked with secretive insider status.

Look at it from a trackside view and all will be good!

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

First of all - those details are all nicely executed...

Second of all - I'm frankly tired of separately applied detail parts in places that are often handled - and broken off all the time!  :)

To be honest, I hadn't even noticed it was a cast-on grab until you pointed this out. When the details are cut well and the finish is above par, cast-on details can be superior in appearance to most anything but the finest wire grabs (InterMountain separately-applied two-by-fours have no chance of competing here).

BTW, kudos, Tom, for some really outstanding work there.

I have a pair of those ESM G26 gons.  I also have a LOT of Trainman.  I like Trainman and am thankful to have it.  However, you can't possibly compare the two.  Notice the riveted detail on the inside walls on the gon.  You won't see that in a single-shot molded carbody.  Overall the detail is much crisper than Trainman.

Each car and its associated level of detail has its place.  Both find a home on the N scale Juniata Division.
