But any reasonably modern (before the yellow conspicuity stripe era) common and mundane tankcars are welcome...

I voted for the NE caboose, because I presently have more than I'll ever need, including 3 brass, so I might as well get backed into a corner to buy even more!

I bought a bunch of the LL ones at one of the LL warehouse sales a few yrs back, they were cheap, and make a decent model with not too much effort.

Atlas does the NE-5 and NE-6, aren't they good enough or just too general? Lee, IIRC the WM NE Steel is quite different from the New Haven NE steel cabooses. Also NE's were also on the CB&Q (wood NE-1 I believe).

I think with the wide range of NE's, specifics might be required.
