Chuck, what's the road and road number on the proto covered hopper pic?

Yes, that would be helpful...It's Milwaukee Road.   ;D

Even though it doesn't "make sense", I doubt that ExactRail produced an ad for the wrong car.  Smiley

Best wishes, Dave

Dave -

Your right :-[  I didn't look far enough.  I have never seen a proto photo that I can recall.  My bad.

Hey Bryan,

I just realized that the sentence above in my previous message was poorly written and could be misinterpreted. I wasn't trying to say that you were wrong or prove a point. I was the one who was hoping that there was a typo in this announcement and that they were really producing a 4427 car instead of a 4000 car. That was why I was digging through the ORER to see if the road names announced were correct. After doing this I realized that I was being a dope for doubting the accuracy of this announcement, so I tossed that final line in there. I just passed on the NP info in case you were interested, not to prove a point or anything. Sorry about that and I apologize for any hard feelings I may have caused.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

WOW, well that is a 4000cf car.

Why EXR wouldn't do the 4427, is beyond me. ???

Well, their HO car is the 4427 Lo-hip and Walthers already did that car in N even though it was quite awhile ago. What I can't believe is why somebody hasn't done the 4427 Hi-hip in N. Wow, a Gon, 2 4000's and now a Spine car.

Somebody told me that there would be a load of N scale announcements this fall and winter. They weren't kidding.....stay tuned, more to com e.

Definitely odd that they didn't do the 4427 in N since they just released it in HO.

The perils of model railroad tooling ... especially in N, where the field of models to do is not wide open as with Z nor as niche-based as it is with HO.  If announced too early in the process, you can get sniped.  If the announcement is held to the end, someone else can beat you to the punch.  You have to wonder if everyone, manufacturers and consumers, would be better off if there was a little more information sharing.

I'll go out on a limb here and guess that the BLMA car will pimp slap the Exactrail 4000cuft :P

Don't get me wrong, I like the Exactrail PCF boxcars, but they don't have the level of detail that the BLMA seems to be offering on the 4000cuft... and at the same price point?

Agreed. I have a few of the Walthers cars and I'm glad I picked them up... the tooling seems to be in the same hole as the Kato U30C, C30-7 and SD45.

We'll if nothing else, it doubles the chance of seeing an Undec, CGW or MNS car from .25% to .5%.  :P

I think you are correct on this issue. The BLMA car looks to be a raising the bar kind of project (like the ESM gons). If the ExactRail 4000 car is similar to their Trinity covered hoppers, this will be no contest. Now....if BLMA would produce their car in Milwaukee Road!

Dave -
No problems on this end.  I was hoping like you that it wouldn't be the same car BLMA just announced and probably quite honestly posted the no NP thing in hastiness.
I figured if I went to all of the trouble I did to make one of these, that surely I could expect a MFR to announce one shortly ::)

The gon is a 40' straight sill w/ side corrugations.  There's a weird one for you.
