I'd suggest entertaining the possibility of raising the elevation of the industry and siding to add more interest to that scene and make the industry; it might also make the building a little more imposing. Maybe add a low stone wall running along the side of the roadway so that the industry property can run right up against it.

Add a grade you mean?  I would also have to account for the loading doors that will be floating in space if I do that.

You've got enough lead there to give the siding a little elevation.

As I said, raise the industry and the siding. There should be enough of a run for a modest grade, starting at the switch and leveling off as it reaches the building.

I don't know...  It seems like it would add unnecessary complication.  The industry already bumps up agains a retaining wall by the road.  By how much are you suggesting I raise the whole scene?

Like 1/4" or slightly higher. Not much.

For the coal / sand track on our Free-moN yard I raised it by gluing down two layers of cork roadbed and then sanded down to 0":





The grade starts soon after the coal dump cutout.
The length looks about the same as your siding, so could work.
But even 1/8" would make a difference, especially if you front the rise with a cool-looking wall (tricks the mind into thinking it's higher, like a mini-scenic divider).

I don't have cork on hand or an LHS that's very "L"...  I do have some foamcore board.  With foam glue, it should hold and not curl.

I cut the siding back to the switch and temporarily removed Spruce Tower and its attendant relay cases.



Found a brand-new tube of PL3000, and also found that you can peel the backing off of foamcore so you end up with just the WS-like roadbed stuff.

If I do this, I may have to kill the existing retaining wall along the road and replace it.  I have a Chooch flexible cut stone wall.

That should work.

I'd rip the old wall out and make it all one.

You could modify the floating doors to have something like vents coming out of them or other duct work, so that they don't look like a loading door.

I raised it up another foam core panel.  I will make the rear wall flush with the retaining wall.  That should look pretty hawt!

Make the rear wall that is flush with the other wall a different product like concrete to make it look "after the fact"
