I would suggest hitting up your local dollar store and getting a few white plastic table cloths to hang up along the walls, to make those bricks disappear in photo backgrounds.

For closeups, I haven't forgotten your suggestion for a portable backdrop.  I have some ideas, but I'm working toward an April train show to finish most of the yard.  The portable backdrop will be similar to Lee's.

Okay, guys, Enola update time.

First off, I HAVEN'T set up a photo backdrop yet, so...  That's that.  Also, there are any number of people, telephone poles, diesel fuel racks, pump houses, sheds, sanding towers, etc. that have not yet been installed.  What you see here is the roughed-in scenery.



These are the power toggles to the pit and engine house sheds.  This way I can store dead or DC locos with no problems.



Looking down the classification tracks under the Overview Bridge.



The concrete pads surrounding the pit tracks will have the fueling/sanding racks.



There are fuel tanks on the northeastern side of the diesel house just like the real Enola.



I need to glue down the yard office.

I like the way the diesel house works as a backdrop.  This area will soon be cluttered with fueling/sanding equipment.

Psst:  Micro slide switches.  Those Caboose Industries Monsters are spoiling the view...

I know, I know, you probably had them in stock... but seriously.  I've started making power routing switch throws using micro slide switches that are about 3/8" x 3/16" or so (about the size of a potato bug).  They're barely visible.  I may actually be able to start adding scale switch stands to the blocks!

Oh, and since they're DPST, you can use the other side of the switch to turn the power to the siding off and on as you throw the turnout.

I've decided all future trackwork will use SPDT micro switches of for no other reason than that these contact ground throws are a real pain in the a$$ to work with.

I'll give you a gushing a$$ kissing over on the MR board...  They like that sort of thing over there.  (aside from the hardware issue, the scene is amazing, and really captures the Enola vibe...  Ed and I will be available to help you shop for a new house when you finally get your dream transfer to the P-Gon...)

They are big and ugly, aren't they?  Problem is, I pre-ordered a sh!tload of them before I started working on the layout.  Once I had a few installed, they began to bug me.  But I had 'em and so I used 'em.

One day I may rip 'em out.

I completely recessed the first two...  The rest I left below grade, thinking that would be enough.  Clearly it's not.
