OK, finished the Enola diesel house.  I spliced the better part of 2 Walthers car shops.  I added inspection pits, trimmed off some of the goofy parapet architecture on the ends, and lastly ditched the sawtooth roof in favor of a more Enola-like flat roof covered in an assortment of roof vents:





I added some Heljan refueling racks as service racks.  They're not wide enough to go down the middle, and aren't narrow enough to fit along the outside.  So, each track gets one on one side.





Roof still needs to be weathered.

Just a hint; I used sandpaper for the roof texture over a piece of styrene garage sale sign (taking a page from the Lee Weldon's "The Frugal Model Railroader's Guide to Not Breaking The Bank with Evergreen Styrene").  I wasn't sure if I wanted tarpaper or gravel for the roof; this made it a sort of non-commital texture that is interesting yet not too busy.

In other words I was lazy.

I always look at the commercial options first, which is far cheaper - for example a large sheet (3'x6') of .030" white styrene can be purchased from U.S.Plastics for $9, and that will last for quite a few projects.  Same with screws and stainless steel wire - getting both at bulk from Small Parts is far more economical than buying Walthers little screw packets and short K&S wire strands.

I just weathered up and detailed a LifeLike GP38-2 phase 2 I'm about to send to Lee for a decoder install.  Yes, I noticed the handrail popped out of the cab wall...  that seems to be happening a lot.  Anyhoo, even minus track and ballast, I like the way the enginehouse makes a good Conrail-looking backdrop for train photos.

You've done an awesome job on the Engine Shop but you kinda spoilt the effect with all those horrid blue things!!!  ;D . You need some proper power on your layout man!!! Red and Silver Warbonnets!!!

Now I guess I'd better run like hell with a dozen Conrail Queens chasing me!  ;D ;D
