Well, it's official.  Brian Carhart (RockGp40) picked up the layout and it's headed south towards Centreville, Maryland as I type this.  Since Brian's pickup didn't have a cap over the bed, we scalped the layout by removing all of the trees.  It took a trash bag and a half to completely denude the layout!  Brian seemed excited to inherit a completely operational door layout with staging yard.  I appreciate that someone will find a good use for it, keeping it out of the landfill.  Enjoy, Brian!

I'll be curious to see what Brian does with the layout.  I hope to see it finished one day and much enjoyed in its new home.  Here's one last look at the Virginia Central.

Not sure where you are going to live, but  NVNTRAK and  BANTRAK  arevgood modular groups. If you do a oNeTRAK module all you need is room for a 4 by 1 module.

Definitely need pictures...  I'm looking at reworking the east end of my layout (between the yard and the staging bridge)...  Some decent modules might provide the right inspiration...

Ed's right. He has tried to convince me to build a oNeTrak module (he put the hard sell on at the February Timonium show), and I am considering doing just that.  I'm also considering just building a very small (e.g., 2' x 4') module that would allow me to at least continuously run a train.  A layout this size would fit perfectly on the rolling toolcart that I converted into my rolling hobby cart and would allow me to superdetail or perfect scenery techniques without having to scenic a room-sized layout.

Well, Dave's layout has arrived safely in Centreville. I escaped the majority of the rain. As soon as I got into Queen Anne's County, it started to sprinkle. I turned on my weather radio and heard the guy announce thunderstorms. My ol' pickup flew down 301. I figured I was going to make a new MSP friend last night, but fortunately, that didn't happen.

I was also listening to NS' Delmarva main frequency and caught the 13G headed north towards Wilmington. He was on the main just north of Middletown. First time for me actually seeing a train there.

As a sidenote to Dave, I had the yard attached to the studs and the first train running about 11PM last night. Thanks!    :D
