This is so stupid. I'm glad Kato sees fit to waste everyone's time with this crap. Sure, other people may do it, but lots of people also shoot smack, that doesn't make it a good idea.

If it is an effort to help brick and mortar shops, Maybe the shops should do something to remain relevant and competitive, and not have Kato swoop in like the Fed.

Maybe all on-line shops should be forced to carry $200,000+ in inventory and we'll see how long they last.

Who said they didn't.  How much of on-line sales do you think stays in the shop for more than 3 days and isn't already paid for?  I don't consider any of that as inventory.  They just play middleman and take their 10-20%.  On-line shops are held to a lower expectation on inventory than retail shops.  When was the last time anyone complained about how little stock an on-line place had.  If they sell out, people think it's just the way it goes, I missed out or I can have them order it.  If a retail shop sells out, they think they're not carrying enough stock and are going to lose my business.


I don't the two should ever be compared.

Yeah I did , had them for a year . And I still have my GG1 on order . I was just blowing off steam , but I still hate what they are doing . Now if I buy anything from them it will be more of a Stockholm syndrome , than a gleeful purchase . I am such a whore .

Actually, a lot of manufactures and distributors (for MR) want you to have the exact same amount or more inventory than brick stores. Space wise too...some distributors want a certain sq footage of inventory space for online only stores and want photos to prove it. Some distributors treat you the same, but a lot don't. I've some times had stuff sit for a long time and not sell, hell I even still have inventory from when I first started in 2003.

While some online only stores have almost no overhead, there are a few out there that just about have the same amount as a brick store. However I think really now a days the "local" hobby shop needs to have an online ordering presence also other wise they will fail. Chuck seems to be doing very well with the traditional hobby shop, but also has an aggressive online presence.

I love reading in the papers here when hobby shops close "times have changed...yada yada yada".....yeah exactly, times changed and you didn't. They should have had an online "version" as well as a good local shop and they may not have been in the position to blame the internet, and better yet embrace it and work with it.

I agree. It amazes me that the Locals don't wise up and figure out that if they have stuff sitting on their shelves for a year or more, they would be wise to at least dump it on ebay. I would think that if a store has been around for a while, should have a pretty good handle on what their customers buy. If they don't, then they are going to have serious problems with competition from the e-tailers.

Sooooo...yeah...the GG-1. AGAIN, another sweet lokie that I don't have an urgent need for....Cripes! Someone make a T-1!! That would sell to lots of folks... especially one was done up in the Freedom train scheme. (I wouldn't buy one...LOL)

I saw that T-1 with the Freedom Train in NJ . Took photos too . Some day I will post them here and on the A Board . I would HAVE to get the entire Freedom Train if it came with that T-1 .
