Wow, this post is too neat to let die out. I know I'm a little late to the dance, but that can be fashionable, right? Anyway, I'd love to be building models like David K Smith, Lee Weldon, Jon Grant, Dave Vollmer, the list goes on! Well, here was my first sorta-wow:
A little diorama, made from a little box with some spare pieces of track glued onto it, plus some PlayDoh. Edited in a suitable background and the bug bit me hard. So I put it outside:
This was the WOW. I added a little exhaust off the top and adjusted the colors slightly, but this one made my day. And it got me thinking...
Why not a nice historical photo, set during the days of my fictional railroad? Some special effects applied and viola! But then I thought "NEEDS MORE DETAILS!"...
Add in some ground parsley flakes for grass, some homemade ground foam trees, a crossing sign, vehicles and cardstock buildings. SuperWOW. This got me taking other photos, like this one of my boxcab (though I wish I'd cleaned the dust off of the VW, d'oh!):
And then tinkering with adding some human life form:

I've always wanted to be able to do realistic smoke, and I think I got it looking good here.
