Your first N scale picture that you said "wow" to...

^ Mike I remember when I tore apart my first HO SD40-2 to make it prototypically correct (more or less) for Santa Fe.  That was when I was 17 (or about the same time you did that Geep.....eek).  I freaked out until I got down and dirty, then I knew there was no turning back. 

And that stock car is still a favorite when I see it on MiNi.

I also think Lee has in his camera's innerds a photo of a co-op hopper being shoved into a stub track on the new part of his layout. I bet if he could find that shot it would be a keeper too.

That reminds me, I need to buy my own camera.....

I've played around with quite a bit of photography on the modules, but this was one that I really thought, wow, that stainless turned out nice (completely stock out-of-the-box model other than window tint).



And this is still one of my favorites, even though there isn't a single train in the shot...

This was the shot that first made me realize I was onto something with the old layout.



I have more from ages ago that I shot on NTRAK layouts that made me realize that digital photography was the *****. Let me see if I can dig them up somewhere.

With the serious amount of modeling talent here it never ceases to amaze me what guys can do....even early in their journey.... the gambit of "wow" shots; those that first made you realize you were on to something is a wonderful cross section of how we have developed. If Railwire isn't a wonderful collections of modelers (read a$$hats) then I don't know what it is... well done gents !

I forgot about this shot.  Went and photographed a number of building loading docks in a nearby industrial complex, printed the photo and mounted it on foamboard for use as a backdrop, then photographed the models in front at the same sunlight angle.  It was the first time I shot a subject specifically for using as a background photo for another subject.
