I don't know where my brain came up with that. 
Anyway, as far as I remember TWX tractors and trailers were always made in small runs which almost instantly sold out, especially those special paint schemes. Maybe the runs were more frequent, but they were all still sell-outs. Whether it is true or not, to me they seem to be creating a scenario where these models become collectibles with "collector prices" in the secondary market. If they could just have larger runs this would likely not be happening, or at least to a much lesser degree. Plus they would have larger profits form selling more models. But as I was told, this is not how things work in today's world.
Some of the happiest small business people I know are those who are sure runs of their products will sell out leaving them with no lingering inventory.
It’s a great business model.
One perfect example is a custom jerky shop I enjoy. The owner makes just enough to run out every week. He’s open Tuesday-Saturday. If he runs out Saturday afternoon or Thursday morning it doesn’t matter to him. He’s made his money and goes on to the next batch. Nothing wasted. No warehousing.
If I am ever brave enough to make my own product, this will be my business model.
For TW the lastest run of cabs seems to be larger than previous ones. They are available at a few stores at significant discounts.
