In that case, if mine also arrives with the wrong handrails, I might just keep the sleeper and call it a day. Not prototypical but….

Carter originally mentioned that some "machining"  was done at the factory but then realized that the cab modifications have to be done by the modeler. But there was some machining done at the factory: 3 holes on each side of the cab for the narrow-spacing handrails were drilled at the factory, but doesn't fit the included photoetched parts.

So, @tehachapifan : even if you choose to build the sleeper cab you will end up with 3 extra holes on each side of the cab prominently visible.

Can somebody post a link to the YouTube video of the assembly process? I wonder what photoetched steps/handrails are shown there.

Same with mine. Ouch.
Looks like the factory packed the wrong ladder etchings in the kits.

Update: I received a reply from Pat at TWX. He is sending me the correct etching.

I had pre-ordered two of the kits.  One has the correct (narrow) ladder etching and the other has the incorrect (wide) ladder etching. I wonder if only 50% of the kits have the correct (narrow) ladder etchings?

Well, that's a good news. I should email Pat and point him to my post to show that this is a more widespread issue (and get my etching's replaced).  My post shows exactly what incorrect etching was included in the kit.

I have a bad habit of stashing kits “for someday”, I’m hopeful to get this taken care of now instead of a few years from now when I get around to it.

Also a huge thank you to Peteski !!  I received 3 kits - 2 had the narrow hand rails and 1 had the wide ones.  I never would have noticed until it was too late without this post.  I also have the habit of stashing things for future projects.

I received the following email from TWX:
It has been brought to my attention that some of your kits have the wrong ladders included.   I apologize for this error and any inconvenience it has caused.  You want the ladders on the left in this photo, you DON'T want the ladders on the right.    If you have the wrong ladders please contact me so I can send you the correct ones.

Photo of both photoetched frets was also in the email. Nice to see TWX swiftly taking care of the problem.

I held off on grabbing one but this ongoing discussion overtaxed my willpower.
I do like kits and Trainworx makes a good product.
Hope they are correcting newly shipped items.

The replacement ladders for mine arrived today.
