Kato SD40-2 shell question

There's the other end of the spectrum, too.
I know the lights are there, I've put them on in HO scale.
But in N scale, I just can't see them unless I pull out my contact lenses.
And probably then only with my left eye.
So for me, the very tiny details in out of the way places just don't register with me.
Doesn't decrease my enjoyment of painting and decaling.

I wasn't trying to be negative Brian, it's just going to such a minute detail on something so small to me is going a bit far. I even had to look to see if they are indeed on my locos, my SD45s and SD40-2s have them but my SD80MACs don't. Seems even Kato doesn't go that extra mile at times....

They are all there on spartan cab locomotives. I have no idea where the lights are on the comfort cab locomotives.

No offense was taken. I am just a bit more on the extremem end of modeling. I do not force it on anyone, just put it out there.

Pretty much how I feel.  The scale difference between an 81 and 88 inch nose aren't too noticeable to me.  As for the walkway light, I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it.

But wanting a mid production SD40-2 with a ratchet brake, there pretty much only one way, and that to to replace the nose with a donor shell.

Brian, when it comes right down to it then only person your modeling has to please is your self (or contest judges) if the extra detailing makes you happy then I say go for it.
