Betcha can't tell what I was doing all weekend. Yep thats right, trees.  86 of them to be exact.  Doesn't really look like there are that many, but there are.   Aren't they bootyful?  The sad part is, this probably isn't even a third of what I need for the mountain side of the layout.  :scared:

And when I wasn't going crazy building trees, I was watching the first season of Star Trek, the original series, remastered.

Move your mouse over the where it says, IMG code, click on the code that has "img" in front of it, and then right click in your message on here and then click paste.  Voila!

This is the icon you're looking for:

On my message-composing screen, it's the second icon in the second row, just below the italic "I" (that gives you the tags for italics, natch).

Oh yes, the old img code.  Had a hell of a time figuring that out here at first.  Luckily, my older son is a moderator on a tropica fish forum and quickly taught me the tricks of the trade on posting photos.

I spent the last week beating on my Silhouette SD cutter to try to make a standing sign with individual letters. Short version: the SD won't cut cleanly all the way through 0.010" styrene, no matter what you do. Settle for thinner or more easily-cut material, or be prepared for some level of score-and-snap.

Eventually, I produced an acetate back layer that has the letter outlines connected by scaffolding:

The letters are about six scale feet tall. The scaffolding bits are three scale inches wide, or 0.019 actual inches.

Then, individual styrene letters to glue to the front, to get an at-least-slightly three-dimensional look:

Assembling the parts is left as an exercise for the eventual recipient--I'm tossing in some spares just in case. :)

Did they remove the strings from the dying monster puppets?

Haven't gotten that far yet.  :)  But they did re do some shots to make it more up to date, visually, with todays technology, but not so much to distract from the 60's feel.  They really did a great job with it.

RockGp40: "Is it sacreligious for a GP30 to pull the Southern Daylight???"  Not if that's the only way to keep it on time!  Most passengers don't care what pulls the train, as long as it's on time.  If the passenger units are movable one should leave them attached to supply steam, but even that's not as important as keeping the schedule, unless it's so cold that the water and passengers will freeze.

Star Trek TNG season 1 goes on sale in high deff next week. The first two episodes are being shown at the local movie thearter. Lets hope they erased the mike boom that kept popping up at the top of the screen.
