I'm curious about the dyn brake blister.  Was it a separate part when done by  Life Like?

I should have a NS unit in a day or so. if the LL bodies fit I wont have a use for the ones that follow. Im also going to see if the FVMs work too.

Yes, separate part on the LL version and pretty easily detached. It is a natural place to want to grab when lifting the loco and could have disastrous results!

Yes on the 38-2s but on the GP60s, at least on the versions I have no, they are apart of the mold/ welded on at some point. Earlier runs it is possible.

I cancelled my reservations thanks to the ditch light debacle.

Thankfully I've got enough LifeLike and FVM versions to keep me happy until a ditch light version comes along - perhaps not too long a wait with ScaleTrains entering the chat.

Atlas also changing the number boards from as advertised (black numbers on white boards as per proto) to white-on-black was also poor form.

The reason I ask is because of the Demo units.  The brake blister was more rounded as well as the nose and it had an angled windshield.

If Atlas keeps the GP60 mold and the brake blister is a separate piece, then that makes my kitbash a lot easier.   I'll get someone to draw me a phase in blister to replace that part (as well as a new cab       )

FVM released both a phase I and phase II GP60, with the former having the more rounded DB blister like you describe. The demo cab and nose would still need to be a custom job.

Im so excited to tell you all,
THE LL/ WALTHERS GP60 SHELLS ARE A DIRECT FIT ON THE ATLAS MECHS!!!      _{and... now I need silver trucks for a bunch...}
I picked up NS 7111 (because of course I did    )  It has working front and rear ditchlights that are pilot mounted, I have yet to look into the prototype mounting location, however. Instead of using wires and LEDs, they are fiber optic routed to the pilots. Because of that they are kinda dim.
 @u18b the DB should come off, they are relatively loose but secure enough to lift by the DB for some of you weirdos out there.

GP60s have their own sturdy "beefy" look.  Like the older LifeLike and new Atlas model, here is a prototype photo with the sunken area around the brake wheel. Note the reflection from the flash.  Also, here is a pair earning their keep pulling a train.
