Why is this an issue ?  Guys have always double posted, some just a teaser picture while others post like Sumner did.  Move along

Double posting is not an issue. What got me is other's fully quoting the lengthy photo-rich post in their replies. I'm just tired of scrolling through photos I have seen few times already.

I thought the thread was about 'Updates' on what we have done in the past week since the updates for the week before.  I do post in 'Layout' and I usually cut what I post there (10 to 12) images down to 4-6 here and also (unless I forgot) ...

More info and images on Railwire....

.... post a link to the other section for those that want to see more.  As a side note just looking there are 7 likes here and 2 there so more people do view here I'd guess from that.  I'd take that as an indication that some don't mind seeing the update here.

Are we interested in getting more content posted to Railwire or less?  I'll be glad to not spend the time posting some to both places if the moderators want that to happen.

Just keep doing what you're doing.
It's been done by others and has never raised any hackles.

I do agree that quoted posts should have some courtesy to trim repeated photos from their post.

My comment not directed towards your double posting.

The weekend update was always a place to show what you've been up to lately - if that takes a few more pictures because a modeler has done a lot, so be it .. Ideally, we would also put the information into a layout thread, if one exists, because it shows progress over a longer period of time . We have some good ones here that showcase a lot of great work.

While trimming extra content from a quoted post is a desirable internet courtesy, it's also not the end of the world if someone forgets -- I know I am guilty at times .. Let's not get too wrapped around the pizza cutters.

Beautiful! The protype is probably a modified "Pagoda Style" depot, a very stylish railroad variant of the "Carpenter Gothic" with a characteristic swing in the roof. See: https://scotlawrence.github.io/pagoda/index.html (link edited) . Your prototype had the roof swing probably aligned to a sharp angle in later years.

I made a laser cut model of this years ago, this is a shorter model without freight section.

Volkmar, that model is beautiful!  It resembles the smaller depots like the ones at Savona and Groveland NY.

Your roof eave brackets are wonderful.  If you would offer them commercially, I'd be in for 50 of them, as I have another, even larger depot to build someday (the one that was in Cohocton NY).

What material did you use to form the curved roof / subroof?

Super late to the show, but I though I'd share this picture
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]
I have to cross tracks to get to work, this one stopped me. I wasn't expecting it at the time, so my camera wasn't up on my phone. Luckily it was only doing 40 MPH, and the parallel highway limit is 55. I darted into a pullout, only to find that they stopped short of my location because of a red signal. Luckily where they stopped there was a big driveway pullout. Needless to say I went back and got a few shots. Never seen an inspection train this short before.

What material did you use to form the curved roof / subroof?

This is all made of thin MDF (1.0 , 1.5 or 2.0 mm). 1.0 mm can be incurved rolling it carefully around a cylindric bar.
Please DM or mail me for your request about parts, there may be a solution.

Well, that's too bad for them. Should we cater to the few members who limit themselves to just viewing a single thread or single forum section?  Really?  Why do we even have different sections then?
I agree that Sumner's post in question would be a better fit in the layout engineering report section. Then a post in WU thread can also be posted to the engineerign report thereat.  It is not that difficult to do and members here do just that.  Look at for example Lemosteam's posts.

Speaking of peeves, why do people fully quote lengthy posts with multiple photos in them?  I already seen and enjoyed seeing them in the original long post. Why make me scroll through the same photos again, in a reply with full quote. Is it too difficult to trim most (or all) photos from the quoted text?  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

haha Peteski, I left all the photos on my reply post as a subtle complaint about the same issue. But I just scroll quick past all the reperat pix/comments. You have to realize that some people just aren't as organized or precise as others.
