More N scale vehicles by MadAboutCars from Showcase Miniatures

Just received email from them.

We have worked with Jens Jahn in the past on several of our projects and now we are proud to bring his extensive MadAboutCars line to Showcase.  We will begin by offering his new designs and then add his previous models for a growing lineup.  Initially in N Scale but HO Scale will soon follow (we haven't forgotten about Z Scale either).  First released is the new 1980-'86 F150 in four different body styles.

The 3D printed models will come in 2-parts: The frame/wheels/interior combo with a separate body.
What a great news!

Jens is incredibly talented. He was the SOURCE for n scale vehicles on Shapeways. I can't wait to see how the designs come out on Showcases superior printing.

Among his extensive catalog were multiple versions of the Crown Vic, Caprice, Explorer and virtually any successful passenger vehicle made in the 1960's and later.

He had HUNDREDS of cars on Shapeways!  Many from the transition era as well!

This is GREAT news!!

That email also included:

Jens has produced an amazing number of models in both N and HO Scale.  We will be working on a database of his models, but do you have a particular one of interest?  Contact us and we will work toward supplying it in our inventory.

I concur.  $16+ for a single, unfinished, vehicle.  Ouch.

I have some of the Shapeways versions. The design quality is outstanding. Jens even designed a ‘65 Buick Skylark hardtop coupe and ‘68 Plymouth Satellite sedan at my request. I was waiting to see where he would have the vehicles rendered post-Shapeways and it being Showcase clearly is one of the best outcomes. The only downside is that the entire HO and N catalog is so extensive that it will be awhile before many of the vehicles appear, if ever.  But the popular models should appear before long.

Guessing they’ll start with models that have already been designed as 2-piece models.  Most of the transition-era cars were designed as solids; these would require redesign.

Shapeways was pricey too, around the same if I recall. Can we get free shipping?   That truck is the prefect vehicle for filling an early 80s partially open autorack, though.  I had been considering getting some of these before Shapeways' demise and I'm glad they'll be available.

I would like to see bulk packs or variety packs.

I do agree that the price for a tiny single truck seems rather steep considering no window glass is included. I have yet to find acceptable liquid glass solution.  Originally I thought the price was for a set of 4 trucks.   :|

You know, I can buy a 2 pack of finished Atlas trucks for less than twice that, delivered.

After reading Mr. Gilmore's, @robert3985 's, post about printing costs, I kinda feel like that this is a little much for what is offered. YMMV.

Looking forward to the HO scale ones. A model of a bullnose ford pick-up has been missing from the hobby for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long like 40 years too long. It's time for manufacturers to start looking into the modern era more and more.
