Thanks guys! Does anyone know where I can source an All Weather Window casting or photo etched fret for an Alco RS2 or RS3?

Apparently Gold Medal Models part 160-61 would do it, 4 each for 6 different locomotives... but can't find anyone with inventory....

Here’s where I’m at with the RS2 detailing, still need to do the exhaust stack extension and find a rerail frog and a fret of GMM all weather windows, then handrail paint and a little weathering to blend the paint touchups…

Ooh, you gotta head that way! Nelson is my favourite small city in all of Canada (great vibe, several breweries, good restaurants and the beautifully preserved CP station with Fairbanks Morse units on display) and Salmo is about a 1/2 hour drive to the south.

Picked up another Marketplace locomotive, an Atlas GP7, for a good price but it needed a little cleanup and a gear clean and lube


Now back in revenue service, although with two broken horns and couplers…



Raided the parts stash and started research to detail and weather,



Another winter project ready to go..

Almost there on the GP7, now numbered 626, and ready for more years of service, with plow, winterization hatch, high hood bell and 3 chime horn. Still on the hunt for a fret of Gold medal Models all weather windows to do this one and the RS2 and have a TSC decoder on order...

As well, I think I went a little heavy on the chalk portion of the GP7 weathering so it's been pressure washed and is awaiting a potential "fade job" to tone down the orange to try to get closer to this...

Well it's been pretty quiet in the West Kootenays over the last few months but the trains are running on time!

No substantial visual progress on the layout to report but decoders on order, 8 pieces of MT rolling stock purchased and work on couplers, track fixes and wiring have continued.

Lots of test miles completed and bugs squashed...

Had some time over the weekend to get the decoder into the GP7 and attempt my first fade mix on a pillaged MT boxcar. I would have saved the car but the previous owners welded the doors open...



Results were favourable so on to toning down the paint and weathering on the GP7...



I'm also using my new iPhone so detailed, in focus pics are a little easier to accomplish... Gotta get those all Weather Windows done and on there too...

I put together some log bunks, built 5 of the 8 needed for two cars and decided to paint and install the first four on one of the two flat cars these are going onto…

Your choice of prototype is intriguing. I drive through the area a couple of times a year and nobody would know the history if they weren’t familiar with the background. All that remains now are a handful of place names that hint off a railroad presence and, if you know it once existed, hints of a ROW. The final decent to Troup Junction with the CPR must have been a precipitous descent, knowing the geography. You’re certainly off the beaten track here!
