Jumping full force down the rabbit hole of 3D printing.  Anycubic Mono 4K on the left, Ender 3 on the right.  Anycubic Wash and Cure station on the way.

I set up the Ender 3 today and was having issues getting the filament stick to the build plate.  It was loose to start, then stuck for layer and half.  Then whole thing come undone.  Until the printer head stopped moving after aborting the print, this is what I ended up with.  For some reason, I thought of the Railwire

Highly recommend getting the BLtouch sensor for the Ender 3, along with the firmware from Marlin (https://marlinfw.org/) Otherwise you can go with the CRtouch which is the Creality branded version of the same thing.

You'll want to upgrade to a Bowden tube, upgraded bed leveling springs and a Creality Extruder. Makes a big difference in the printing and first layers. You can also add squish with your slicer or cheat with the offset.

Small update on the Ender 3 issues I was having.  Feel so dumb but turns out I wasn't using the supplied build plate at all.  I had leveled the metal table and was printing on that 

Once I realized the error of my ways, I clipped the build plate to the table and started over.  Test file printed just fine

Most browsers require secure content (images, video, etc.) now. So you want to use HTTPS for the Spookshow website and possibly drop "www" in the URL pasted between the [img] tags.

It's possible you can get a free certificate vice paying your hosting company $80 a year, that you can import to your hosting services.

Most browsers can be configured to allow non-HTTPS content transparently, although I understand Chrome is a bit difficult on that front because Google pushes updates frequently which undo the bypass. My solution to that is to relegate Chrome to the recycle bin.

I'm not spending one red cent for https. I don't need it and will happily just shut down my website if it ever becomes a widespread requirement. I waste enough money on all this nonsense as it is.

With trackwork at Lake Cowichan complete, it was time to turn my attention to the trains that will run up there.  The Nitinat Logger, as it was called, was a signature operation on the E&N in the 1970's, and features in my operating scheme.  It deserves having some attention lavished on it, and the long-term plan is to rebuild a batch of Con-Cor 50' flats acquired from Tim (BCR 570) into 40' log flats.  In the meantime, I cobbled together some general service flats as a "stand-in" log train, seen below.



As you can see, about as convincing a representation of an E&N log train as Stephenson's "Rocket" pulling a TGV.

Some years ago, I fabricated a sample log bunk for these cars.  Here it is, along with the component parts.



I spent the weekend assembling enough of these to equip my existing "stand-in" fleet.



A significant improvement, and even better when you add a load:



Painting and detailing were next--all that's needed now is some fairly grungy weathering--these cars took a severe beating.  A train of these will look pretty good meeting the Dayliner at Hayward!

It works for you because you *ARE* using an older browser.  So do I.  Photos are nto the problem - the browser's "nanny" behavior is the problem.

Many (or all?) new versions of browsers displaying contents of a secure (https) web page will silently block any unsecure (http) contents within that page (like Spookshow's photos).  There are settings in those browsers which will bypass that security "feature", but sometimes those setting are difficult to find.   This was all discussed back in 2020 in https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=50726.0

It's because security threats are constantly evolving and browser developers are trying to help keep people safe.
