N Scale Kits Flexi-Van Mark II / Stone Creations Trailers.

I recently picked up some Trainworx Flexi-Van cars and Trailers, and I'd like to fill it out a bit more.

Has anyone had experience with the N Scale Kits Mark II and Stone Creations Trailers?

I suppose I can fill in some information.  I did the masters for both the flats and the trailers back when Alan Curtis was at the helm.

The flat cars still hold up to the Trainworx version.  And since they are an earlier center platform design, add some much needed variety.  N Scale Kits did some etchings to make adding the grab irons and steps a bit easier.

The trailers are kitbashes from Walthers container sides and Atlas trailer bodies.  The good news is that they come in 36' and 40' versions, needed for the earlier flat cars.  They look pretty good, but the Trainworx trailers are outstanding, so maybe don't put them next to each other.  They show their 15 year age.

It is possible to cut down the Trainworx trailers to 36' from 40', so you can have matching loads.  I'm in process of doing that.

There’s one rolling along in this video. The car with the single Milw trailer.

Cool.. thanks for the info... I'll get some ordered...

Does anyone know the story of the NYC 9600-9700 series flexivans, vs the NYC 504000 series..
Passenger service vs Freight service?

It seems that the Trainworx NYC Cars (at least from the latest run are NYC 504### series, but looking at the Canadian Southern Passenger consists, All of the Mail and Express Trains seem to be using a few NYC 9600-9700 series cars, and mostly MFVX 9600 series

Apparently the trailer castings are (were?) being done by Stone N scale Creations.  I messaged them (email and website form) to order several but no response yet.

Any chance your planning to cast your new trailers cut down from Trainworx?

I'd like to secure trailers before I pull the trigger on flats.

No, I don't plan to offer castings.  Skytop Models did some, but they are not currently offering their castings either.

I decided that I wanted to spend the money to have the 35' match the 40', so I'm cutting them down 1 for 1.  That way the finish, and the placards, match.

If you were willing to post a guide on how your doing it, that'd be appreciated..

It sounds like your doing it on painted models?

I have 1-2 of the 36' and 40' trailers from the original casting run I would part with if you want them. Got them when I got the flat cars probably 5-6 yrs ago. PM me if interested They are in their as received state with no floors.
