Finished my HOn3 Porter. I used an ESU LokPilot 5 Micro DCC decoder tucked into the cab ceiling. The elk antlers came from MiniPrints.
I finished the build portion of my HOn3 D&RGW Jordan Spreader OU. I'm going to scratch build a re-railer and some tools, so it's not quite ready for the paint shop yet. I'll also break out my light blue background to get some good photos for next week's update before I start painting. This week I added the side blade extender arms. For the shortest set I used the kit supplied white metal parts. The longer ones are styrene H-columns of the same size with the white metal hinges attached. The strapping between the arms is .020" x .040" styrene strip. I also added more piping to the front of the deck house, using .015" brass wire. I added .012" wire piping at the top of the deck house and used left over decoder wires to simulate the flexible air hose at the top of the side blade raisers. Lastly, I added .008" brass wire to the hinges on the door at the back of the deck house. One thing I wanted to call out is the way the blade extender arms sit in the arm pockets. From looking at photos, the arms have considerable play in the pocket on the prototype, so frequently sit at extreme angles. See red circled photo below. So my representation is more or less prototypical, though it does look odd to me. Erik
