This site also has the Swiss electric-powered steam engine, and the 1890s French steam-electric, which really should have caught on.  Its specs were quite close to the FT diesel, including multiple-unit capability.

My next Bachmann victim, this was purchased for $32.00 NZD, Motor sounds like a quiet Buzz Bomb (WW2 German), Split axles and a broken ladder. All in all it's in good condition.
This will become my 3rd and final 2-10-4 Texas Type (ATSF) so it will get pulled apart, a new motor (non Bachmann), get new gears and be stretched.  This needs to run flawlessly.

On the equipment front, two long-running projects for my Provincial Museum Train are finally finished.  The Dolbeer Donkey and Climax locomotive are now fully painted and assembled, and are seen here sitting on their flatcars (still have to manufacture the hardware to secure them to the decks of the flatcars):

I made some decent progress on my HOn3 D&RGW Jordan Spreader OU.  I've added some additional details with styrene.  And some of the white metal castings were not fully cast, so I had to substitute styrene for those parts as well.  The styrene angles are the same size as the cast ones, they just look bigger because of the glaring white color.  I realize as I get further into this build that the kit has many inaccuracies when compared to the prototype.  That said, since no one seems to be an expert at narrow gauge Jordan Spreaders, I'm not worried about the inaccuracies.  And in my internet searches, I don't see any photos of other HOn3 spreaders out there.  It certainly will be the most accurate HOn3 Jordan Spreader in my house.  Haha.

Foxies- great ratters!
We had one for quite a few years (7 or 8ish) when I was a tweenager, since we kept aviary birds as my hobby.
She used to sniff them [mice] out and spin them around, then... well, often we didn't need a funeral...

So I’m authorizing the Bride to begin the search for an Airedale for one of her Christmas presents. Our previous Airedale, Guinness, has been gone for 3 years now (Bless Guinness; he was a great dog, but not a good dog!). Our daughter has a Lakeland terrier, but she (the dog, not the daughter) doesn’t seem to be able to keep the local rat population away from our bird feeder.

Proposed name for future Airedale:     Stout.

I'd be interested but 2 things - I live in New Zealand and USPS has stopped delivering to NZ for the past 3 months and looks like it will continue into 2022. However if you are prepared to wait a bit and I'd definitely pay the postage here, I'd still be interested.

Got a request to do a custom build of my 18-tonner in Nn3, just finished it up.

Now, while Climax would basically build you anything you wanted if you paid for it, they only did two commemerative locomotives for the Yukon Gold Rush, christened the "Gold Bug", and the written record told the story of a brilliant yellow and red locomotive.   The little one was a 4-wheel 3' one, the big one was a 13-ton vertical, SN 149:

While they never did an 18-tonner, I got requested to do one of my Nn3's in that scheme.   You won't loose this one in the trees.





It's amazing how they can make Code40 rail look big.

It's hard to appreciate just how little one of these is in Nn3 unless you show it in proportion to something else; in this case, a rather modern logging locomotive that was the Allegheny Railroad GP35 #305



The drive system in these, by the way is a Solarbotics GM15A 25:1 gearhead to a Kato universal and worm, to a Rokuhan SA-001 powered truck (Z scale).   It creeps incredibly well on my BlueSnail power supply.
