Yes, Trunkeyville, PA is a real place, the PRR line was abandoned in 1976, but that house and the concrete bridge are still there, and this is the line where 1046 ran on it's last trip in 1937.

Since the pulp mill on my layout has a prominent water tower, I had to find a way to model it.  I searched online and did manage to find one but it was of poor quality and couldn't really be used.  Wondering if one could be 3D printed, I asked here on TRW if it was possible.  John B. answered the call and agreed to try it.  The result was one that very closely resembled what I was looking for albeit with a couple of wrinkles.


John did try to print the walkway/handrail piece but it didn't make the trip from him to me.



So, I figured I could make one out of brass using some 0.015" shim stock and adding Gold Medal Models handrails.  I used an ancient drafting compass with two pointed metal inserts to scribe the OD and ID of the walkway.  I then used a hole saw to cut a rough hole in the brass and used a file to arrive at the final dimension for the ID.  Small hobby metal shears and filing was used to get to the proper OD.



Then with some very careful soldering, I attached the GMM handrail sets to the walkway.  Next will be preparing the actual water tank and making the support structure.

Back to basics to achieve a good outcome. I keep forgetting these basics and seem to go the hard way and when completed think I could have done this another way easier. Good job well executed.

Preparation of the new layout room continues.

The new sub wall for mounting Chetwynd and Dawson Creek yards is now painted:




The posts for the north wall (Pine River & Tremblay) are also painted, and holes for the mounting screws drilled:




The posts are scheduled for installation on November 12, when I have a week day off work and can do some drilling.


Getting ready to sand the roof for my BCPM official car PEACE RIVER.  John (Keystone Details) has achieved a great fit with the Micro-Trains heavyweight observation car which will be used as a core:






NARC received final pre-production samples of the combination door boxcars this week and they are presently with me for review and testing.  Today we took them for a test run on Michael B's Esquimalt & Nanaimo layout, where my two RS-10s have been earning miles for the last year or more.

Continuing work on the stockyard.  Added dirt to the stalls and started on the hay barn.

Made some more progress on shelf brackets. Not done, but I have enough made that I can get started and see where I'm at.
Definitely alot more work then Rubbermaid brackets but so far my only new investment is time.
I've decided that I'm not a fan of sanding, it never ends! 





I even managed to get some hung over where my workbench will be. Finding the studs was interesting, the house is a mix of 16" and 24" centers and there's a few spots where they threw everything out the window. Excited to finally see something tho, hopefully I can keep the momentum up.
