New Atlas announcements

Atlas has new announcements in N, HO, and O. The new engine in all 3 scales is the GP40 in various scheme. Included are PC, UP, CSX, and more. Also available is a special limited edition Operation Lifesaver scheme. Various cars are available but at minimum, a box car and CO style caboose is in scale.

I would be in for several 1932 boxcars, but....the auto mechanic phoned to tell me I am now in the market for a 1:1 scale automobile, instead.

These are scheduled for 2nd Quarter 2022, but in reality could possibly be 2023 with how far behind Atlas has become on it's new products.  That said I need to look, I might want a number of the undecorated flavors for cars in use in the mid-late 40's plus a smattering of the decorated cars.

Is there new frame tooling for these to do the ditch lights?

I'm surprised they redid these instead of the GP40-2s. A new GP40-2 sill would be awesome, and many of those things are still kicking around. I hope that's in the works.

A couple of things of interest, but how excited I would be for them to start making up ground on their announcements from the past couple of years. I think my last count was about 33 items due in the second quarter of 2021. Can you imagine if they  released one item a week for the next 33 weeks!  That would be cool!

With Delta variant Covid cases spiking inside China and SE Asia, production schedules are likely to get further behind rather than catching up.

I wish Atlas would do a D&RGW on the GP40-2. Rio Grande had both, but Atlas has only done the scheme on the older engines.

The 40' Wood Reefers are of interest to me. I  need to figure out if any are applicable to a late 40's Buffalo Line.

That is a good chunk!  I am looking forward to the FA units!  Also pretty cool more N than HO!   

Yeah. I'd like a couple of the FA-1/FB-1's.  But PRR only had a few.  I think 15 total starting with 3 A-B-A sets.  Or maybe 16 with A-B-B-A sets.  I think only a couple ened up on the Buffalo line with any regularity and then not til the mid-late 50's  But I want one set at least.

I did find this, its for the high side car but comparing a Trainworx car to my Exactrail low sides it looks close...
I ordered a few hopefully they work for the Atlas/Walthers car...

The 40' Wood Reefers are of interest to me. I  need to figure out if any are applicable to a late 40's Buffalo Line.

Unfortunately all of the schemes are early 1920s/30s schemes. Any of the "Bilboard" cars wouldn't have been seen past 1937 when they were banned in interchange.
The Santa Fe and PFE schemes are 1920s and likely would be rebuilt or repainted by the late 1930s.

Mind you rule 1 applies...
