Spent a few hours chasing trains around Colorado Springs and got rewarded.


My son had seen this was coming south from Denver but we never know exactly when trains from Denver will get here.  After a couple coal trains we had a train take a siding where it looked like there might be something coming south.

Nothing spectacular - built a couple of turnout indicators from black foam board and a couple of SMD white LEDs.  The track diagram was printed on a laser printer, and then covered with ModPodge ..

Finally building a CSX SD40-3 with one of my cabs. I also created and printed the extended dynamic brake section and exhaust silencer.

I am not sure what takes more time, packing up your collection of cars and engines to move, or unpacking them all to put on the new layout!

Does it look more like B&M Blue or is it just the lighting?

Probably lighting.  It was Polly Scale Conrail Blue.  I've used it to touch up other CR stuff and matched pretty good.

It looks wrong until the lettering is applied. At least in my experience, the white seems to make the blue appear darker.
