Steve is on the central South Island I think...  which in New Zealand terms is far enough to require either a trip by plane or ferry.

As for me, I got the PGE caboose primed and a few coats of the final yellow / orange on

So you must be on the north island then . . .

We're almost opposite ends of the country.  Nice work on both your layouts. 

Yes Tim, they are former Cartier units, one originally CN the other was built as an Alco C-636 demonstrator.  Sad that it was scrapped a year after we saw in in 2012.

Laura and I were supposed to be in Vancouver in June for an Alaskan cruise, but that was called off in March.  Was so looking forward to riding the WP&Y.  Hope we get there in a couple of years.  Hope you are well.

Reese, if only I could convince you to do some work on a C32-8 or C30-7A.

I haven't look much into C30-7As yet, but they're on my list to do since NS did hang onto them for a couple years.

I did start a C32-8. I need get back to it and look into getting the Microscale ballast express decals made into N.

One more project started today.  I picked up a few TBOXs that someone else had started.  I stripped them and decided to start over.  Now just waiting for decals to show up at the LHS.

Started work on a small early 1900's refinery geared toward producing heating gas/oil and gasoline.  Drew up the plan to fit the space, then cut-down several different sizes of pill bottles to represent the different tanks.  Measured, marked and cut panels into the various tanks.  Next up is filling and smoothing the tops of the tanks, then painting them black.

I already made a decal at for it. Pretty easy as its mostly black lettering. I found Conrail font years ago that included vector images of various Conrail logos. At the right don't size, they are prefect for decals. I use a laser printer at work which does a much better job than ink jets. I've always found ink jet proves always run, even with a proper sealing coat.

Update: looks like my work was lost in the hard drive failure last month. I have to make a new set. Should be ready by next week. I can either print you a set or send you a PDF of the sheet.

My wife was out of work for nearly four months because of COVID-19. So I used the "down time" to work on low cost projects. One if my main projects has been to go though my rolling stock inventory and find foob cars. I have been repainting them to prototype cars matched from photos online and correct for my era.

Here we have a stack of MDC refers and one from RC. The MDC cars were all FGE "Solid Cold" which are incorrect for the model. Add luck would have it, FGE did in fact have these cars but painted in a similar "Real Cold" scheme. The cars were stripped and painted with Polly Scale CSX tan, which is a great match for the prototype. Decals are from Microscale 60-4022.

The UPFE cars are painted with Polly Scale UP yellow and decal set 60-242.

The BN car started out as an MEC car I think. This was repainted in Modelflex BN green (a bit bright for my taste but will be toned down with weathering) and decal set 60-4106.

Busy weekend!

Most importantly, my wife and I painted our newly rennovated bathroom. It's now just a few days from completion and I am so happy to be able to walk across the hall from my office to drop a bomb in style again.

But there was also plenty of modeling. I shot some photos of the 8905 project which is getting close to being done.

First I caught it while the crew was getting some Slurpees.



And then at work in Rohm and Haas.





I also grabbed some close ups of the frankenhorn for @Lemosteam and @Rudy Garbely .





I also spent a lot of time problem solving and working on my SW1001 project by cutting back the radiator grill and adding the sand box "cheeks".

I think these are cool. I can’t imagine a transition era RR without them, they were everywhere!
