Well Mark, if you took your reference photo on another day, that door could have been shut. 
Or you could have just chose to model the door closed (since it is possible that it gets closed regularly), but I really enjoy your persistence in modeling exactly what you see.

I finished up another SW1 for the Austin, MN patrol this week.
This is the one I grafted a Kato NW2 cab and stepped hood section onto the Arnold shell to get the correct hood and windshield for the Milwaukee units.
Details include wire grabs, windshield wipers, cab shade, winter front, MU receptacles, air line to the bell, all weather window and trainline hoses.

The air line is there in the first photo. The angle of the shot caused it to be hidden behind the bell because it comes out of the hood on the right side and not in the center.
Good catch though. I thought it fell off : )

An update from my workbench.  While I await some warmer weather for airbrushing I'm decaling some long term projects, A Briggs M-630 which is now an M-636 and a kitbashed C-636.  Awaiting the paint shop a Briggs M-420 and C-425m.

Santa Fe lunch counter diner #1507. Built in 1940 for service on the El Capitan. These are JNJ sides on an American Limited core kit. Microscale decals. The roof vents over the grill aren't right, but it's all I had in my scrap box.

I made some tweaks to my PR43C and went ahead and drew up the correct fuel tank for PRLX 4300.

I'm still undecided on drawing and printing the handrails or stick with going old school and bending my own.

Nice to see your work again.  Are those six axle ALCOs ex-Cartier power?  I am also wondering how far away you are from Andy Thomas . . .

Interestingly the first subject of my post this week is also ALCO power.  Ex-EL C-425 810 was completed back in 2007 with a very heavy weathering job which did not really match prototype photographs.  Jeff offered to repaint the carbody for me and we finally got around to getting it done:






During this past week I have been getting the layout back up and running.  Philippe Whyte came over for a visit and ran a train to Dawson Creek and back.  Tonight, 810 arrived in Chetwynd along with sister engines 804, 807 and 812 for a reactivation run:




RS-3s 570 and 567 were waiting to depart south with a short work train, and someone climbed up onto the roof of the Chetwynd depot to get a photograph:




Earlier in the week I also finished applying decals to my two Marine Industries 71'-0" bulkhead flatcars:






I think I counted 57 separate decals to be applied to each car.  Glad they are done!

Steve is on the central South Island I think...  which in New Zealand terms is far enough to require either a trip by plane or ferry.

As for me, I got the PGE caboose primed and a few coats of the final yellow / orange on.   I found a Japanese paint at the local hobby shop (Mr Hobby #58) which is a good colour match, but could probably benefit from fading to make it less vivid.   Not particularly happy with the quality of the finish though.   Hopefully some weathering and dullcoat will hide that.
