Hi Gents & Ladies,

Some well cars have sustained damage to the etched metal end grabs/step during transit. Please see the JTC notice below:
-----------------------------------------------------------

Manufacturer’s Notice: 9 post well car grab bar, handrail, steps bent
JULY 2020
Hello All,
Thank You for supporting JTC’s first freight car, the NSC 9-post well car.  We have been notified of some packaging issues with the protective blister not being protective enough. This has caused some cars to arrive with bent hand grabs/steps on the etched metal part.  We have ordered replacement etched parts from our factory and will make them available when we receive them.  We had 2 of the five we kept for JTC’s ‘vault’ have the damage. We were able to bend them back into place with a bit of care.  We designed/made the ends out of etched metal (stainless steel) to allow the end parts to ‘bend’ instead of breaking like plastic during normal handling – The Irony!

The entire etched walkway piece can be removed (carefully), and discarded, HOWEVER - it may be worth it (easier) to bend the existing ones back into place, and touch them up or weather it. We will provide more details soon. The etched metal was pre-formed before being installed on the car. We will experiment the process of etched metal removal and report back...

The blister is being re-designed to better protect the ends, for the next run.

Please contact us with any concerns via email: service@jtcmodeltains.com

We apologize for the inconvenience, and again Thank You, for your support.
The JTC Team
----------------

We chose to bend the metal step/grab back into place, and did so with care, as others are reporting to us. Replacement parts are being made and will be available.

It turns out all 5 of mine took a beating. I was able to effectively straighten them though with the most prominent long term damage being the paint flaking off the parts where the bend occurred.

For anyone that has these it looks like the majority of the damage was related to the well portion of the blister pack. It was not supporting the body of the car as well as the top side appears to.  My suggestion is to store these cars upside down if you are keeping them in the jewel cases for any amount of time.

Id love to see JTC pass out updates to the blisters when they come up with the new design for when these cars go into storage, etc.

J

I'm only going to buy 2, because JTC is coming out with the 17-post version later!

The two I ordered from Lombard arrived today. They had some slight bending on the hand rails, but nothing that I couldn't straight out very easily. I'm impressed with the quality of the cars, they're very nice, can't wait to see more designs down the road.

The etched ends are great!  That would be a great kit to upgrade my old walthers cars!!   Great cars!!  Look great with all the others.  Thanks JTC

All 15 of ours that came in the shop were bent pretty bad. I've been going through and straightening them out through the day. I am also cutting out the back corners of the nest so the don't get bent again.

I'm very impressed with the engineering on these.  The walkways come off - they are NOT glued - so you can access the coupler box screw.  VERY clever.

Major complaint: plastic wheels on a model in this price range.

I'm also looking forward to more from JTC, who seems to be doing things right.  Yea!

Now, where are those triple 53's? :-)

GMM well car walkways details are made from stainless steel.

WAIT, WHAT?!?! PLASTIC?!?!

Grrrr...Had I known, I would have bought some metal wheels along with my order. I guess I have some Rapido Trains 33" wheels still left over.
