New K4 decals, anyone have a proto info about this reefer?

Thanks for sharing the photo. I went to college in Green Bay (UWGB).  I think I may do one of those reefers myself.  Must have an undec or 2 around here somewhere.

I found a photo, probably the one used for the decals. On the Lakes States Railway Historical Society website, I should have thought to look there sooner.

I think that’s my attraction to it. My family is all from Wisconsin but when I was a kid we lived in Northern Illinois, Bear country. It was always a big rivalry.  Way back then, the Packers would play some of their home games at County Stadium in Milwaukee, so we usually went to see the games there, as it was closer.  I was probably about 6 or 7 (this being about 1970) and I got to see the tail end of some legendary players careers. I think I cried when Ray Nitschke retired.

I would say the roof has a metal sheathing.  It looks to extend over the side boards down a couple inches.



You can see a row of rivets along the side of the roof and the ends certainly have a metal capping.  The hatches appear to be metal because of how thin they are.

I don't think this is a Microtrains car, It might be an old Precision Masters.

Yeah, I did this with the PM car probably since it was a kit.  I just didn't know if the same could be done with the MLTL car.

 I’ve got a Atlas wood reefer in the stripping bath right now. So let’s see, add metal sheathing to roof, some work to ends to add those vertical braces, file down the fishbelly frame and those brackets. Oh, and metal hatches.

So what started off to be a “slap it on whatever car is closest” will likely turn into a whole project.

I’ve got to finish this first, doing what Micro Trains should be doing for us. MT wood reefer sides with MT steel reefer ends and roof for a rebuilt car.
