I got a nice model of a Kato SD40 GATX Leasing Corp.#7356 but I cannot find any information on that model as there is no label on the box, does anybody know something about it?

Thanks a lot

Tim

Looks to be a custom job. The real 7356 appears to be an SD40-2, and it doesnt' seem like Kato ever did any in that scheme.

Based on the shell it's an earlier 1990s run.
It should be a non "DCC friendly" mechanism.

Still a great runner and looks like a decent paint job...

Judging by the chipped paint on the handrails, I'd guess that is a custom paint job, especially, if there's no information online about a Kato locomotive in that paint scheme.

The non-DCC friendly chassis assumes no shell and/or truck sideframe swaps.

I doubt this would be the case of a SD40 painted as a SD40-2, but I have multiple examples of Kato SD40's and SD45's that are several times removed from the original combination of shells, chassis, and sideframes (including one that currently has Atlas SD35 sideframes) where it is possible...

That would be why I used the word "should"   ;) :D

Agreed swaps are possible... I have SD40-2s that have old non dcc sd40 mechanisms...
