I saw it locked, so I made popcorn. Very disappointing.
It's a 3D printed part that sits down on top of the whole thing. These cars have an outer shell (the, well, shell), a flat weight, the interior, two loose window strips and then a roof. The roof on the regular cars has some detents that hold it in, but these replacement roofs don't have those. Right now it's just a friction fit that works pretty well, but not perfectly. When I'm done messing with the car I'll probably add a little Walthers Goo and keep them clamped tight until it dries.
This is not a true statement. the Detents in the car are not symmetrical and you may have reversed the roof so it is not engaging detents in the car so it would feel like a friction fit. Try reversing the roof. there are three detents on one side and four on the other.
jpwisc: Why the different fans for radiators and dynamics? Different diameters, or the manufacturer just wanted to complicate things?
A little "better modeling through peer pressure"...Glad I checked my mentions last night. I showed a shot of this "ready for paint" 2 weeks ago and then spent the next 2 weeks outside working on the yard and didn't come back to check. @robert3985 noticed the brake stands were not oriented correctly. His comments prompted me to redo them and make the handrails more accurate in the process. Now it really is ready for paint. (Attachment Link)

But there are limits. Mine was when I observed fresh bullet holes in the top of the tender of HVRR #5 in a 1938 photo....couldn't bring myself to drill holes in a finished model....http://www.randgust.com/Hv5D.jpg
