Some issues? Their detail can't be beat? On their F3's, BLI couldn't tell the difference between solid body panels and chicken wire-covered body openings, or between the front and rear of the B unit sides. Or worse, they could, but released the messed up N scale version anyway while holding off on the HO version announced at the same time. That tells me something about what they think of the N scale market and modeler (and maybe they are right )

I'm happy for you Pennsy steam guys, the T-1 looks gorgeous, but the F3 shell is an abomination imho.

If anyone is still thinking about these, M.B.Klein must have gotten a re-stock.  They are showing stock levels between 3 and 33 for various road numbers including the painted, unlettered (I.e. no PENNSYLVANIA)

Oh, yeah, they have a 5% site discount for Thanksgiving still in effect until midnight tonight (25-Nov-2018).  Excludes Athearn, Roundhouse, McHenry, Soundtraxx and Blackstone products... but not BLI.

Precisely.  In addition to the production nose being a slightly less drastic angle, the skirting was modified.  6110 and 6111 had full length skirts resulting in a clean line, with pinstripe added for emphasis, from just behind the pilot all the way down the tender.  The production version "as delivered" had partial skirting that came up higher at the drivers and then back down at the cab.

And the portholes were for eliminating vibration at supersonic speed? Looks like Buick eventually copied them on their '50s cars ....

Keystone Details will be offering a 0.1 thick etched stainless grille to fit the BLI T1 in the near future.  Test etch has been requested through PPD.  If that is successful on my engine, I will offer them for sale.

Nice!  That is the best solution.  Could you post a picture of the artwork?  I'm wondering what the edges look like and whether the original headlight is retained or is is a new headlight part of the etching?  The next difficulty will be trygin to match the paint color.

Was this grille installed on all the 1:1 locos with that nose, or did some have a blank panel like the model does and BLI simply screwed up?

Part will almost surround the lower auxiliary light, this is where the fitment comes in.  I am hoping for some over etching on the grill portion. The bars are 0.15mm and the holes are 0.15mm square.

Looks good John!  I also hope that they will be over etched slightly. The paint match could be a problem because I don't think you can buy DGLE paint from any model paint manufacturers (at least Tru Color and Scalecoat).  Even if DGLE paint was available, the color might be different than what BLI uses. But then again, I suppose that DGLE is so close to black that it might not matter much.

I looked at the PRR Brunswick Green at my local hobby shop and it didn't quite seem to look like DGLE.  I might have to revisit that.

Water-based paints? Neah.  I need the sweet odor of solvent while I'm painting.  Actually I suspect that AccuPaint and Tru-COlor are very similar to Badger stuff (except solvent based.  They dry very quickly, are very durable, and go on very thin.  And they stick to plastic like a leech to skin!
