Hey Mike,

The diaphragms are from Des Plains Hobbies. The trucks are from them as well (Sorry - the trucks can't be seen).

I am using M&R sides with American Limited core kits. I have has these for years --

I used the long weekend to make a bit of progress on my Cajon layout, working scenery and backdrop uphill from Verdemont toward Devore, about 6' worth around M.P 72.5. The backdrop is photo-based, but heavily photoshopped. Not as easy as it would seem at first, as I am learning the hard way... still, I like the results.

Greg, the lower deck vertical separation "window" at this point is only 8" between the bottom of the upper fascia and the lower deck scenery. While less than ideal, it is the result of a "daylighted" helix, and the shallowness of the "window" is somewhat mitigated by the lower deck protruding forward; 12" vs. 8 1/2". Beats the heck out of running inside a helix....

So got fired up this last week to begin my "NP Green River Viaduct "



and got it compressed to about 5 feet and 6 towers instead of 8.
I found a really good drawing of the bridge and the terrain and started gluing the rough pieces in and then this weekend I got to the rasp and gave it an initial shaping.




I wanted to create the double track bridge but found that it was going to be a lot of scratch building to get there, so I went with plan "B" and will have switches at the ended.  So with that in mind and trying to keep things as light as possible I am going to glue a thin veneer of wood in the square cut out, so I  can then screw and secure a tortoise motor .  So thats the plan



I have 1 bridge kit and that will span the middle, need to order another 2 kits.
Anyway just the beginnings to keep my drive and hopefully my future layout going.

You could make it a gauntlet track across the bridge.   It would eliminate the two switch machines.   If you have a couple of turnouts with bunged up points they could be used to make the approaches (don’t know what the technical term is for the frog without the “switch” is).

Interesting idea.
  I might have to whip one up and see how reliable it is.  I have made multiple N scale turnouts, and this doesn't look any harder.

Working on Ponderosa siding on the BNSF Ponderosa Subdivision. Tile grout for dirt over track and waiting for Blair Line loading ramp for mountain siding which will serve Ponderosa which is just over the ridge. Also waiting for 4-6" pines for thee front and 2-3 inches in the back. Trees will populate foreground around the siding and the service road. On vacation this week and knocking out some modeling.

Visited Dave Hughes WM (HO) layout just down the tracks from there the other week. In his case, his layout includes that stretch of line in his back yard.  MM crews now and then, when they have time, will park the train and walk over to check out his rendition of the railroad they're operating.
