IM SD40-2 gap

Good evening everyone. Hope you all are doing well. I'm wanting to add to my project pile by adding to the underside of the IM sills to close the gap and I remember seeing others do this with a particular styrene shape but I can not find the article anywhere. Can you guys show me the shape or type of styrene used, size used for this project? Or even the original post. I would greatly appreciate it.

I used some Angle-iron shaped styrene under a couple of mine. It hides the gap Ok, but of course it does eliminate it.

Looking at that, I need to add the end cross brace and traction motor detail to the HTC truck. I think that open air is more noticeable.

There was a thread about this some time ago, and one suggested solution, which I'm planning to try is to use a part directly from Kato. It's 924055. It's the underbody detail that Kato uses on their Mid Production SD40-2. It's $3 and looks really nice. All you would need to do is cut off the fuel tank.

When I'm looking for this angle-iron shaped styrene, am I looking for a particular size and name? I'm not familiar with what it looks like. I have purchased some 1/16" I beam styrene but haven't looked to see if it will work yet or not.

I used Evergreen Scale Models #291 "Angle" Size .060". You could probably go a little larger without interfering with the trucks.

I'm pretty sure whoever posted the fix here used C channel.  I know it was here, I've sent the link to a couple people.  Of course, didn't save it for myself nor can I find any trace of it here.
