Agreed.  What bugs me is seeing decades-old models priced to match the new stuff.  One example from ten years or so ago was a shop that had Minitrix U28Cs, in the 70s cardboard boxes, for the same price as Katos...

Yesterday was the 45th anniversary of the passing of The Wizard of Monterey, John Allen. A member of  trainboard was kind enough to share a set of custom made decals the were meant for a 40′ PS1 boxcar, however I decided to use it on a plug door boxcar since I had one on hand.

I shot the car with Krylon Aluminum (the needle on my old Badger 200 is broken), masked the roof off using Scotch tape…it surprisingly did a great job, and was the width of the roof! I then shot it with red primer.

Nothing has changed in the last 40 years other that the aisles seem to get narrower over time.

Girth makes that illusion , happened to me . Just be on the look out for flies orbiting due to being captured by gravity induced by mass . That's a DEAD giveaway that too much modeling is being done instead of reality .

Very nice work! Now all it needs is a name for the service... Perhaps Day-lite? :D

That's fantastic looking.  The stripes definitely make it look more "finished".
The fabric of reality has begun to fray.

We used to see that a lot around here.  The GE North Fort Worth locomotive plant was having almost ALL supplies including prime movers and locomotive trucks delivered by tractor/trailer.  Now that orders have slowed, we don't see it am much.

Wolf, you've been using a lot of TSC's. What's your thoughts on them so far? And that model is an absolute beauty!

Freezing my butt off in New York this weekend and I visited Red Caboose on W 45th St.  I have not been there in a few years, but I have been coming here for over 40 years.  I also visited when Red Caboose was upstairs across the street and Model Railroad Equipment Corporation ran the basement store where Red Caboose is now.  THIS PLACE IS IN A TIME WARP.

Nothing has changed in the last 40 years other that the aisles seem to get narrower over time.  The owner Steve (I think that is his name?) does not seem to have aged at all other than slightly thinner and grayer hair.  The 1970s and 80s N scale stock that was there then is still in the cases.  Note the layer of dust on the Minitrix K4 and the ConCor Hudsons.  I think that the CC Alton Limited set that I traded in at least 35 years ago is still there.  And is that the same cat that was there 40 years ago???

When you descend those stairs to the basement you are entering another time dimension with a direct link to childhood.

(hobby shop images removed)

That is so cool.  Thanks for posting this.  MH
