Wolf, you've been using a lot of TSC's. What's your thoughts on them so far? And that model is an absolute beauty!

I use them on the lead locomotive of a consist and of course on this RDC. I only have one train (my track maintenance train) that is equipped with the TSC's.  The balance of my fleet is equipped with regular MT couplers.

Thanks, for the kind comment!!

I spent most of Saturday rigging a spar tree log loader. I'm sure I've done more tedious things as a modeler, but I sure couldn't tell you what they were. I also added a rusted-out sedan along the right-of-way on my logging "mini-layout." The story behind it is a similar rusted-out 1920's-era sedan my wife and I found on a hike in the Smoky Mountains along one of the former Litter River Logging Company's railroad grades around what used to be Tremont. It's a fun memory that I wanted to incorporate into the layout.

That logging layout is fresher than a virgin in a refrigerator!

You should sell those leaves!

Chris,

Where did you get the blocks?

Doug

They're from a KMP kit. I ditched the dowel rod that came with the kit, and used some sticks from the backyard instead. That left me with a set of plans, and the hardware... This is my first time building anything like this, so it's been an education!

Greg Komar used to make N scale Gorre and Daphetid decals in N scale and I modeled at least one boxcar. Thanks for remembering one of (if not the best) the greatest model railroads...ever. If only it hadn't been destroyed, it would still be an inspiration and a tourist attraction today.

That's one of the nicest jobs on my Climax kit I've ever seen!  Great execution on the entire module. :D

Does it come with an N scale rake or leaf blower?

SP's standard for stringers at time of merger with UP was 6x18-30' laminated.  There are a different number of stringers per chord depending on the weight capacity design of the bridge -- typically three, four or five per chord; two chords per bridge segment oriented just to the field sides of the center of rail to take advantage of the bending design element of using timber.  In all cases they are oriented vertically; i.e. the 6" face lays upon the piling cap.  FYI, the caps are typically 14" x 14" although sometimes they can utilize 12x14's on edge.  Bridge ties then lay perpendicular across the stringers with 5x8 tie spacers running on top of the edges of the ties running lengthwise.

I think I have a bit of building ADD. Finished putting together the AYA Wildwood house which is a real pleasure to put together. It's a real shame that I have to paint it. I still have to complete the Walther's ADM elevator, Ice House, and Jim's Repair Shop. The N Scale Architect Somerville Junction kit needs weathering and may change to completely black, since the coal dock in Bellevue has barely any concrete coloring peaking through in the photographs I've seen.

Finally got the elevated trusswork painted after track installation.   Here it is with ths LIRR #39, @eric220 's B60b one of my K4s, and an in-progress P70 coach with lots of Keystone Details stuff on a Lima coach.

Weathering to follow on the trusswork.

John, that viaduct could be almost the whole Atlantic Ave branch. Any idea of how the restore on the real LIRR 39 is going?
